Absolute Recomp Plans $1.5 Million Gym in Former Urban Air Location in Spring
A familiar Spring entertainment space is preparing for a major transformation.
Absolute Recomp, a Texas-based fitness brand known for large training floors, specialized strength equipment and around-the-clock access, plans to open a new gym inside the former Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park at 20100 Holzworth Road, Suite A.
For residents who remember the building as a destination for birthday parties and family outings, the planned project will bring an entirely new purpose to the nearly 49,000-square-foot space. The trampolines and climbing attractions are expected to make way for weight machines, power racks, lifting platforms, cardio equipment, locker rooms, saunas and posing areas.
According to a state project filing, Absolute Recomp plans to invest an estimated $1.5 million to renovate the vacant tenant space into a personal fitness and private gym. Construction is scheduled to begin Sept. 30, 2026, with completion projected for Dec. 31, 2026.
An official opening date has not yet been announced.
Former Urban Air Space Will Become a Strength-Focused Gym
The former Urban Air location offers the kind of open, expansive floor plan that fits Absolute Recomp’s equipment-heavy gym model.
At approximately 48,856 square feet, the planned Spring location would provide ample room for a broad mix of strength-training machines, free weights, competition-style equipment and cardio stations.
The gym would also bring new activity to a large commercial space near Interstate 45, serving residents across Spring, Klein and North Harris County.
While the Houston area has no shortage of gyms, Absolute Recomp is positioning the Spring location as something different from a traditional neighborhood fitness center.
“Most gyms are built for the average person. Absolute Recomp is built for people who take their training seriously, whether that’s competing on stage or on the platform, building the best version of themselves, or simply refusing to settle for an average gym,” the company states.
That focus is likely to appeal to bodybuilders, powerlifters, strength athletes and residents who want access to equipment they may not find in a typical commercial gym.
Beginners Will Also Be Welcome
Despite its hardcore fitness image, Absolute Recomp says people do not need years of lifting experience before joining.
“While the environment and equipment are built for serious lifters, beginners are welcome as long as you’re ready to put in the work and respect the space,” the company states.
That distinction could help make the gym more approachable for Spring residents who want to begin strength training, build muscle or improve their overall fitness but may feel uncertain about entering a performance-focused facility.
The brand’s name refers to body recomposition, the process of losing body fat while gaining or preserving muscle. Absolute Recomp says its facilities are designed to support steady progress through strength training, consistency and long-term fitness habits.
Specialized Equipment Is a Major Part of the Brand
Absolute Recomp was founded in Texas in 2015 and has grown primarily throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Its current locations include gyms in Frisco, Lewisville, Fort Worth, Las Colinas and North Richland Hills.
The Spring facility would mark the brand’s expansion into the Houston market.
One of the company’s main selling points is the variety of equipment available at its gyms. Absolute Recomp says it sources machines and training stations from more than 30 manufacturers, including Watson, Arsenal, Panatta, Rogers and New Tech.
“We source from over 30 of the best manufacturers in the industry, including Watson, Arsenal, Panatta, Rogers, and New Tech, bringing together an exclusive lineup most gyms can’t come close to,” the company states.
Its existing facilities include power racks, deadlift platforms, competition benches, specialty bars, resistance machines, strongman equipment and cardio machines such as treadmills, stair mills and bikes.
For local lifters who currently travel farther into Houston to find certain machines or competition-style equipment, the Spring location could provide a closer option.
Planned for 24-Hour, Staffed Access
Absolute Recomp’s existing gyms are open and staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
“Absolute Recomp is staffed 24/7, so there’s always someone on-site, no matter when you train,” the company states.
That schedule could be especially useful for shift workers, first responders, health care employees, parents and others whose routines do not fit traditional gym hours.
The company’s existing gym model also includes locker rooms, showers, men’s and women’s saunas and dedicated posing rooms for bodybuilders and physique athletes.
Exact amenities and membership pricing for the Spring location have not yet been confirmed, although the company’s current gyms offer month-to-month plans without long-term contracts.
What the Project Means for Spring
The planned Absolute Recomp gym will give the former Urban Air building a new life while adding another specialized fitness option to the growing Spring-Klein area.
Rather than leaving a large entertainment space vacant, the renovation would turn the property into a destination expected to attract members from surrounding neighborhoods and other parts of North Houston.
The gym’s arrival also reflects the continued growth of businesses geared toward health, recreation and personal wellness in Spring.
Construction timelines can change, and the projected December completion date does not necessarily represent the day the gym will open to the public. Residents can watch for future announcements about hiring, memberships and a confirmed grand opening.
