Two CFISD Seniors Selected as Coca-Cola Scholars Semifinalists
Cypress Ranch High School senior Matthew Noriega and Cypress Woods High School senior Victoria Zhang were recently selected as 2023 Coca-Cola Scholar semifinalists.
The Coca-Cola Scholars Program is the largest corporate-sponsored, achievement-based scholarship program in the U.S. With the addition of the 2023 class of scholars, the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation will have provided more than 6,750 Coke Scholars nationwide with more than $81 million in scholarships since 1986.
“I am over the moon about this opportunity to win a $20,000 scholarship,” Noriega said. “Over the past four years, I’ve dedicated a monumental amount of effort towards making an impact both inside and outside of the classroom. I’m so honored to have received this recognition for my work, and I’m definitely crossing my fingers to make the next round!”
In addition to receiving college scholarships, students selected as Coca-Cola Scholars will have opportunities to network, collaborate and take part in a coaching program with other Coca-Cola Scholars and Coca-Cola Scholars alumni.
“Being named a semifinalist is a reflection of all the time and work I’ve put into everything I have been a part of in high school and the tremendous support I have received from my friends, teachers and mentors,” Zhang said.
Coca-Cola Scholar semifinalists will submit an additional application, which will be reviewed by a program reading committee. After the review, approximately 250 students will be named regional finalists, with approximately 150 of those regional finalists becoming 2023 Coca-Cola Scholars and receiving a $20,000 college scholarship.
