Twenty-Eight District Wrestlers Earn Medals at CFISD Invitational

Twenty-eight CFISD wrestlers won medals in their respective weight classes at the 20th annual CFISD Invitational, held Jan. 6-7 at the Berry Center. 

The Cypress Ranch High School girls’ team placed first overall in the tournament, scoring 157.5 points, giving the Mustangs five top-four finishes in the last six invitationals. Other CFISD girls’ teams to place among the top 25 teams were Cypress Creek (23rd, 79) and Langham Creek (25th, 77).
 
The Cypress Ranch High School girls’ wrestling team placed first overall as a team with 157.5 points at the 20th annual CFISD Invitational, held Jan. 6-7 at the Berry Center.
 
In the boys’ tournament, Cypress Ranch had the highest finish among CFISD teams, placing 20th with 96 points.
 
Cypress Ranch High School senior Kohen Coffman placed second in the 138-pound weight class at the 20th annual CFISD Invitational, held Jan. 6-7 at the Berry Center. Coffman was the district’s highest-placing individual male wrestler.
 

The David Pruitt Most Outstanding Female Wrestler was Killeen Ellison High School's Alexis Hanks, who won the 114-pound weight class. The David Pruitt Most Outstanding Male Wrestler was Bryan High School’s Nicholas Gorman, who won the 132-pound weight class.

The Most Outstanding Wrestler award is named in honor of former Langham Creek High School wrestling Coach David Pruitt, who passed away in January 2013 after a battle with cancer.
 
Cypress Park High School senior Kira Bufford placed third in the 114-pound weight class at the 20th annual CFISD Invitational, held Jan. 6-7 at the Berry Center. Bufford was one of three CFISD female wrestlers to place third in their respective weight classes.

Boys 120 pounds
  • Kevin McAleavey, Cypress Creek – seventh place.
Boys 126 pounds
  • Eli Esquivel, Langham Creek – sixth place.
Boys 132 pounds
  • Kooper Good, Cypress Ranch – eighth place.
Boys 138 pounds
  • Kohen Coffman, Cypress Ranch – second place.
Boys 144 pounds
  • Trent Evans, Cypress Lakes – sixth place.
Boys 175 pounds
  • Nikolas Macedo, Cypress Park – eighth place.
Boys 190 pounds
  • Jacob Tucker, Bridgeland – sixth place; and
  • Brayden Grier, Cypress Ranch – eighth place.
Boys 215 pounds
  • Ethan Anderson, Cy-Fair – fifth place.
Boys 285 pounds
  • Omar Khan, Bridgeland – fourth place; and
  • Aidan Shumate, Cypress Woods – seventh place.
Girls 100 pounds
  • Christine Tran, Jersey Village – fourth place; and
  • Arianna Beltran, Cypress Ranch – sixth place.
Girls 107 pounds
  • Alejandra Mezano, Cypress Ranch – fourth place; and
  • Carolina Vargas, Bridgeland – seventh place.
Girls 114 pounds
  • Kira Bufford, Cypress Park – third place.
Girls 120 pounds
  • Chamille Bryson, Cypress Creek – fourth place;
  • Brooke Trevino, Cypress Springs – sixth place; and
  • Layla Miranda, Bridgeland – seventh place.
Girls 126 pounds
  • Aviana Caceres, Cypress Falls – fourth place; and
  • Mariah Smith, Cypress Ranch – fifth place.
Girls 145 pounds
  • Sara Garza, Cypress Ranch – third place; and
  • Alexis Booth, Jersey Village – fourth place.
Girls 165 pounds
  • Amy Sorto, Langham Creek – fourth place; and
  • Tania Rincon, Cy-Fair – eighth place.
Girls 185 pounds
  • Emma Thomas, Cypress Creek – third place.
Girls 235 pounds
  • Asia Young, Cypress Ridge – eighth place.
