Truitt MS Teacher Receives Boy Scouts of America Silver Beaver Award
Truitt Middle School teacher Christine Allen-Jackson was presented with the Boy School of America Silver Beaver Award at the Sam Houston Area Council’s Court of Honor, held in January at the Cockrell Scout Center.
The award was introduced in 1931 and recognizes noteworthy service of exceptional character. Recipients are registered adult leaders within a council nominated by their peers and have made an impact on the lives of youth through service. Among the numerous adult volunteers who have contributed their time with the Boy Scouts of America, approximately 50,000 outstanding individuals have received the Silver Beaver Award.
Allen-Jackson serves in many capacities and holds numerous positions within Boy Scouts of America. She is an assistant scoutmaster for several area troops and serves as a crew adviser and Eagle Scout coordinator for her own troop. At the district level, she serves as a trainer for scouts and adults.
At the council level, Allen-Jackson serves in the areas of the camping program and shooting sports.
“I am very humbled to receive this award and to know that not only my peers value my work, but also the council,” she said.
