Tomball Prepares for a Patriotic Night of Fireworks, Music and Community as America Turns 250
As communities across the country prepare to celebrate America’s 250th birthday, Tomball is once again planning one of the region’s biggest Independence Day gatherings — and for many local families, it has become a tradition that marks the heart of summer.
The City of Tomball’s 2026 July 4th Celebration & Street Fest will take place Saturday, July 4, along Business Highway 249 just north of FM 2920 behind Kroger. From live music and local vendors to patriotic tributes and a giant aerial fireworks display, the free community event is expected to draw residents from across Tomball, Northwest Harris County and surrounding areas.
For families looking for things to do in Tomball on July 4th, organizers say the evening is designed to feel both festive and community-centered, with activities for all ages and plenty of space for neighbors to gather together.
The celebration officially begins at 6 p.m., when Business Highway 249 transforms into a pedestrian-friendly festival space filled with food trucks, craft vendors, children’s activities and entertainment. A “cool zone” will also be available to help guests escape the summer heat during the outdoor event.
One of the evening’s featured attractions will be a special screening of National Treasure, scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. on the event’s big screen. The family-friendly movie ties into this year’s patriotic theme celebrating the nation’s semiquincentennial — the 250th anniversary of the United States.
At 7 p.m., the event will pause to recognize veterans and active-duty military members with an Armed Forces medley tribute and community sing-along honoring those who have served the country. Live music from Willow Creek Junction will follow at 7:30 p.m., bringing a Texas country soundtrack to the evening before fireworks begin later in the night.
The event is expected to conclude with one of the largest July 4th fireworks shows in the Houston area beginning around 9:15 p.m.
For many Tomball residents, events like this are about more than entertainment. They create opportunities for neighbors to reconnect, local businesses to engage with the community and families to build traditions that children remember for years.
With free admission and free parking, the celebration also remains accessible for families looking for affordable ways to celebrate Independence Day close to home.
Organizers encourage attendees to arrive early to explore local vendors and secure viewing spots before the fireworks show begins. Parking will be available throughout the “Four Corners” shopping area near the intersection of Business Highway 249 and FM 2920, including lots at Kroger, Lowe’s, Target, Academy, Kohl’s and H-E-B.
Limited handicap-accessible parking will be available at the far north end of Business 249 behind the stage and can be accessed via Hicks Street.
Guests are welcome to bring coolers, though outside alcohol and glass containers will not be permitted inside the festival area.
City officials also noted that the Tomball Fire Department will closely monitor weather conditions throughout the evening and will provide updates regarding the fireworks schedule if necessary.
As Tomball continues to grow, longstanding events like the July 4th Celebration & Street Fest remain an important reminder of the community traditions that continue to bring residents together year after year.
