For many families in Northwest Houston, choosing a hospital is about more than medical expertise alone. It’s about feeling heard during stressful moments, being treated with compassion, and knowing loved ones are receiving attentive care from the moment they walk through the doors.

That commitment to patient-centered care is now receiving national recognition for St. Luke’s Health-The Vintage Hospital.

The Houston-area hospital announced this month that it has earned the 2026 Outstanding Patient Experience Award from Healthgrades, a leading healthcare transparency platform used by millions of Americans researching hospitals and doctors. The recognition places St. Luke’s Health-The Vintage Hospital in the top 15% of hospitals nationwide for patient experience.

Located in Northwest Houston and serving communities including Willowbrook, Champions, Tomball and surrounding areas, St. Luke’s Health-The Vintage Hospital has become a growing healthcare anchor for residents seeking advanced medical services closer to home. The hospital is part of the St. Luke’s Health system and CommonSpirit Health, offering specialized care in areas including heart care, orthopedics, lung health, surgical services and diagnostic treatment.

Hospital President Elizabeth Ortega said the recognition reflects the hospital’s broader philosophy about healthcare and healing.

“At St. Luke's Health - The Vintage Hospital, we believe that exceptional healthcare goes beyond clinical expertise – it's about the entire patient experience,” Ortega said. “From the moment they walk through our doors, every interaction, every comfort, every act of compassion contributes to healing and well-being.”

She added that the hospital’s team works to ensure patients feel “valued, respected and expertly cared for” throughout their stay.

The Healthgrades award is based on patient feedback collected through Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems surveys, commonly known as HCAHPS surveys. For the 2026 analysis, Healthgrades evaluated responses from nearly 4,000 hospitals nationwide using patient survey data submitted to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services covering admissions from January through December 2024.

The surveys measure patient perceptions in several key areas, including communication with nurses and physicians, staff responsiveness, medication explanations, hospital cleanliness and overall care experience.

For local residents, those details often shape how comfortable and confident families feel during some of life’s most difficult moments.

Healthgrades Medical Advisor Dr. Alana Biggers said patient experience plays a meaningful role in overall outcomes.

“Better patient experiences are correlated with better health outcomes, which is why patients should always strive to seek care at a facility with a clear dedication to high-quality, patient-centered care,” Biggers said. “As an Outstanding Patient Experience Award recipient, St. Luke’s Health - The Vintage Hospital sets the benchmark for patient experience nationwide, ensuring that every patient feels heard, empowered and confident throughout the care journey.”

Healthgrades has become one of the country’s most widely used healthcare research platforms, helping consumers compare hospitals, physicians and treatment options while offering transparency into healthcare quality metrics and patient satisfaction scores. The organization is part of RVO Health, whose network of healthcare brands reaches more than 100 million people monthly.

For communities across Northwest Houston, recognitions like this can also reflect the continued expansion of high-quality healthcare services closer to rapidly growing neighborhoods. As areas like Tomball, Champions and Willowbrook continue to see residential and commercial growth, access to trusted medical care remains a major priority for families, seniors and working professionals alike.

The award also highlights the increasing emphasis hospitals nationwide are placing not only on clinical outcomes, but on communication, comfort and the overall patient journey — areas many patients remember long after treatment ends.
