Tomball ISD Seeks Applicants to Fill Vacant Trustee Seat

December 18 2025

Tomball Independent School District is calling on community-minded individuals to step forward and serve. Following the December 16, 2025 school board meeting, the Tomball ISD Board of Trustees officially announced the opening of an application process to appoint a new member to fill Trustee Position 1, a vacancy that will remain open through the end of its current term in December 2026.

This appointed trustee will play an important role in helping guide the fast-growing, high-performing public school district that serves families across northern Harris and southern Montgomery Counties. The selected appointee will hold office until the November 2026 general election, when the seat will be placed on the ballot.

Who Is Eligible to Apply?

To ensure applicants meet legal requirements for service, Tomball ISD has released a list of state-mandated eligibility criteria for the Trustee Position 1 seat. According to the district's materials, all candidates must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen;
  • Be at least 18 years old;
  • Be a registered voter residing within Tomball ISD;
  • Have lived in the district for at least 6 months and in Texas for at least 12 months before the deadline;
  • Have not been ruled mentally incompetent by a court;
  • Have not been convicted of a felony (unless officially pardoned or legally released from related restrictions);
  • Satisfy any other requirements under Texas law for this office.

It's important to note that service on the Tomball ISD Board of Trustees is a voluntary, unpaid position. Those who apply are expected to have a strong commitment to public education and to represent the district’s diverse and rapidly growing population.

How to Apply for the TISD Board Vacancy

Residents interested in being appointed to the Trustee Position 1 seat must complete two required documents: the application form and the affidavit of eligibility, which must be notarized. Together, these comprise the full application.

Before applying, individuals are encouraged to thoroughly review the information packet provided on the district’s website: TISD Board Elections.

Completed applications will be accepted via two methods:

  • Email: Send completed documents to elections@tomballisd.net beginning December 17, 2025, through January 7, 2026.

  • In Person: Deliver materials to the John P. Neubauer Administration Building, located at 310 S. Cherry Street, Tomball, TX 77375, from January 5–7, 2026, during regular business hours (8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).

Notary services will be available on-site during those same hours, January 5–7, for those submitting in person.

Applications must be received no later than 4:30 p.m. on January 7, 2026. Late or incomplete submissions will not be considered.

A Chance to Help Shape the Future of Tomball ISD

The district has scheduled a Special Board Meeting on January 13, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. to conduct interviews with selected applicants. Those wishing to serve must be available at this date and time. While all complete applications will be reviewed, not all applicants will be selected for interviews.

With Tomball ISD continuing to grow and thrive, the opportunity to serve on its school board represents a meaningful way to make an impact at the local level. The Board of Trustees is responsible for setting policies, overseeing the superintendent, and ensuring students across the district receive a high-quality education.

Residents with questions about the eligibility criteria or the application process are encouraged to contact the district directly at elections@tomballisd.net
