Tomball ISD Bus Driver Brings Magical Polar Express Experience to Students

December 20 2023

Ted Glodowski, a devoted bus driver for Tomball Independent School District, embarked on a magical journey to bring the enchanting Polar Express experience to his students on route 133 at Timber Creek Elementary.

Wearing his conductor hat and a bright smile, Glodowski presented golden tickets to the eager students, turning their daily commute home from school into an extraordinary experience for his students. After being inspired by a similar idea shared on a Facebook group for school bus drivers, Glodowski meticulously planned this memorable experience over the last year, ensuring that parents were in the loop during the planing process.

"The kids were excited seeing me in the conductor outfit and getting their envelopes from the teacher with their golden ticket inside," said Glodowski.

During the ride, Glodowski had several surprises in store, like holiday music that filled the bus with cheer, including the Polar Express theme song, sweet treats, special signage to transform the bus, and gifts for the students. Thanks to the generous contributions of several Tomball area businesses, Glodowski's Polar Express adventure was a tremendous success. Smallcakes Tomball donated mouthwatering chocolate chip cookies, and Signtex helped transform the bus into a magical ride with a Polar Express magnet. JK Graphics printed the coveted golden tickets, while Sip Hip Hooray provided Polar Express-themed cups. The warmth of the occasion was rounded off with hot chocolate from Designs by KCC.

Glodowski's dedication to his students doesn't stop at the Polar Express event, as he revealed they celebrate holidays and birthdays throughout the year on his bus. According to Glodowski, many bus drivers go the extra mile to bring fun and memorable experiences to their students during their commutes, often without recognition.

"Many other buses bring this experience to their students and don't get recognized, but the biggest reward is the smiles on the children's faces." He hopes that more bus drivers will be encouraged to conduct fun-filled events like these and receive the recognition they deserve for bringing joy to their young passengers.

Glodowski's kindness and thoughtfulness will surely leave an indelible mark on his students as they carry forward cherished memories made during their far-from-ordinary commutes.
