For families who have driven past the old farmstead on Theiss Mail Route Road and wondered what happens behind the fences, the next few months offer plenty of opportunities to find out.

Wunderlich Farm Interactive History Park in Klein has announced a full lineup of fall and holiday events for 2026, including a Farmers Market & Museum Day, Little Farmer Fridays, the 9th Annual Haunted House, a Fall Festival and the Old-Fashioned Christmas Market & Festival.

The events are designed to be fun, but they also serve a larger purpose: connecting today’s rapidly growing Klein community with the rural families, farms and traditions that shaped the area generations ago.

More Than a Museum: A Piece of Klein History

Wunderlich Farm is operated by the Klein, Texas Historical Foundation, a nonprofit organization established in 1988 to preserve historic buildings, documents, photographs, artifacts and stories tied to the Klein community. The foundation opened Wunderlich Farm for tours in 1995, using the property to demonstrate what rural life in Klein looked like from the late 1800s through the early 1900s. 

At the center of the property is the Peter Wunderlich Homestead, built in 1891. The working farm and open-air museum allow visitors to explore historic buildings, farming equipment, gardens and livestock while learning how early Klein families cooked, worked, raised children and made a living. 

That hands-on approach is especially important for local students. Wunderlich Farm has long hosted educational tours, including programs that help children compare life in early Klein with their own lives today. 

Farmers Market & Museum Day Kicks Off the Fall Calendar

The next public event is Farmers Market & Museum Day on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Wunderlich Farm Farmers Market brings small local vendors onto the historic farmstead, continuing a tradition that has deep roots in the agricultural history of Klein. The museum says its markets typically feature locally made and locally grown goods, including produce, food products, soaps, flowers and other items from area vendors. 

For families, the market can also double as a casual history lesson. Visitors can shop under mature trees, walk the grounds and explore a working farm in the middle of modern northwest Harris County.

Little Farmer Friday Gives Young Children a Hands-On Farm Experience

Wunderlich Farm will also host Little Farmer Friday on Oct. 9 from 10 to 11 a.m., with another Little Farmer Friday scheduled for Nov. 13.

RSVP and prepayment are required.

The farm’s children’s programming is built around simple, hands-on experiences that introduce younger visitors to farm life through stories, crafts and activities. The setting also gives children a chance to see animals and better understand where food and everyday necessities once came from.

For local parents searching for things to do with toddlers and young children in Klein, Spring or northwest Houston, the program offers something increasingly unusual: an educational morning rooted in the history of the community itself.

Wunderlich Farm Haunted House Returns for Its Ninth Year

October will take a spookier turn with the 9th Annual Haunted House, scheduled for Oct. 23, Oct. 24 and Oct. 30 from 8 to 11 p.m.

Admission is $10.

The annual haunted attraction has become part of Wunderlich Farm’s fall calendar, giving residents a nighttime reason to visit a property more commonly associated with school field trips, farm animals and local history.

It also leads directly into one of the farm’s biggest family events of the season.

Fall Festival Planned for Halloween Day

Wunderlich Farm will host its Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

For Klein families looking for Halloween events and fall activities close to home, the festival adds another community-centered option to the calendar.

The historic surroundings help make events like this different from a typical parking-lot festival. Visitors are gathering on land that still reflects the agricultural roots of Klein, at a farmstead that has been preserved specifically so future generations can understand what the community once looked like.

Old-Fashioned Christmas Market & Festival Closes Out the Year

The season concludes with the Old-Fashioned Christmas Market & Festival on Saturday, Dec. 5, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Admission is $5 plus one nonperishable food item.

The event brings together the farm’s historic setting, local shopping and holiday traditions, giving families an opportunity to celebrate Christmas in a place built more than a century ago.

For longtime Klein residents, it can be a reminder of how much the surrounding area has changed. For newer families, it offers a chance to learn something about the community they now call home.

How Residents Can Help Preserve Wunderlich Farm

Wunderlich Farm depends heavily on community support. The Klein, Texas Historical Foundation accepts donations and volunteers, and volunteer opportunities can include helping with school field trips, assisting visitors on Saturdays or helping maintain the property. 

That involvement matters because the farm is more than a collection of old buildings. It preserves the stories of the German settlers and other families who helped establish the Klein area, while giving today’s residents a tangible connection to a period when much of northwest Harris County was farmland. 

Wunderlich Farm is located at 18218 Theiss Mail Route Road in Klein, Texas, next to Doerre Intermediate School. Regular hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with public access also available on the last Saturday of the month. 

As Klein continues to grow, places like Wunderlich Farm offer something difficult to recreate once it is gone: a direct link to the people, work and traditions that came before.
