Title: Where to Recycle Your Christmas Tree in San Antonio: Free Drop-Off Sites Open Jan. 3–14
As the holiday season winds down and decorations come down, San Antonio residents are encouraged to give their live Christmas trees a second life through the City’s free recycling program. From January 3 through January 14, 2026, the Solid Waste Management Department (SWMD) will host four Christmas tree recycling drop-off locations across San Antonio to make tree disposal easy and eco-friendly.
The program offers residents an opportunity to support local sustainability efforts while responsibly discarding their undecorated trees.
Tree Recycling in San Antonio: What You Need to Know
To participate, residents must ensure that their Christmas trees are completely free of lights, ornaments, tinsel, tree stands, artificial snow, or any other decorations. All trees must be unbagged and loose when dropped off.
For those with smaller trees, there’s also the option to place them in the green organic bins for regular curbside pickup — another convenient option for weekly waste collection customers.
