Third Tim Hortons Planned for San Antonio at Former Starbucks on Blanco Road
San Antonio has not officially welcomed its first Tim Hortons customer yet, but the Canadian coffee and bakery chain is already preparing a third location in the Alamo City.
The newest café is planned for 18154 Blanco Road, Suite 106, near the intersection of Blanco Road and Loop 1604 on San Antonio’s North Side. The 1,250-square-foot space was previously occupied by Starbucks and is expected to be renovated into a Tim Hortons coffee shop.
For residents in nearby neighborhoods, the project represents more than a change of signs. It would bring a new coffee, breakfast and bakery option to a heavily traveled area surrounded by homes, businesses and daily commuter traffic.
Construction is scheduled to begin Sept. 7, 2026, and conclude Nov. 18, 2026, according to project information filed with the state. The privately funded renovation has an estimated cost of $200,000 and is listed under CO3 Brands, LLC. Construction schedules are preliminary and may change.
An official opening date has not been announced.
Tim Hortons Builds a San Antonio Footprint
The Blanco Road café follows two other Tim Hortons locations planned for San Antonio.
The company’s first local café is taking shape at Redland Plaza, at 2919 N. Loop 1604 East. A second is planned at 14076 Nacogdoches Road, where a former Taco Bell and KFC building is scheduled to be remodeled.
Together, the three projects would establish an initial Tim Hortons presence across San Antonio’s North and Northeast sides. The Blanco Road location would also place the brand near Loop 1604, giving commuters and surrounding neighborhoods another accessible stop for coffee or breakfast.
CO3 Brands is the local franchise group behind the San Antonio expansion. The group recently shared that the Redland Plaza café was nearing completion, although the first location’s official opening date had not been confirmed as of July 2026.
The decision to convert an existing Starbucks is especially notable in a city with a competitive coffee market. Rather than developing a new building, Tim Hortons would reuse an established café space in a familiar commercial area.
What Tim Hortons Will Bring to Blanco Road
Founded in Canada in 1964, Tim Hortons has grown from a single restaurant into one of North America’s largest quick-service restaurant chains.
The brand is best known for its Original Blend coffee, doughnuts and breakfast offerings. Its menu also includes iced coffee, cold brew, lattes, cappuccinos, tea, frozen Iced Capp beverages, baked goods and hot breakfast sandwiches.
Two of its most recognizable offerings are Timbits, the company’s bite-sized doughnut treats, and the Double Double, a coffee commonly prepared with two creams and two sugars.
Tim Hortons differs from some specialty coffee shops by operating as a blend of coffee counter, bakery and quick-service breakfast restaurant. Customers can stop for a simple cup of coffee, pick up doughnuts for an office or family gathering, or order a breakfast sandwich during the morning commute.
The company’s official directory currently lists Texas locations in Austin, Bryan, Cedar Park, Houston, Humble, Katy, Richmond and Stafford. The San Antonio projects would extend the brand’s Texas presence farther into South Central Texas.
A Familiar Site Gets a New Coffee Brand
The transition from Starbucks to Tim Hortons may make the Blanco Road project feel more immediate to nearby residents. The location is already recognizable as a coffee stop, but customers can expect a different menu, atmosphere and brand identity once the renovation is complete.
Tim Hortons will enter an area where residents already have access to national coffee chains, local cafés, doughnut shops and fast-food breakfast options. Its bakery selection, Canadian roots and emphasis on approachable coffee and breakfast food may help it carve out its own audience.
The location may also attract customers who became familiar with Tim Hortons while living in Canada, the Northeast or other parts of the United States. For many San Antonio residents, however, the new café will offer a first opportunity to try the brand without leaving the city.
What Happens Next
Renovation of the former Starbucks is expected to take place between early September and mid-November. Additional time may be needed for inspections, equipment installation, employee training and final opening preparations.
Details about the Blanco Road Tim Hortons menu, hours, drive-thru service and hiring opportunities have not yet been released.
Still, the third planned café shows that Tim Hortons is not treating San Antonio as a one-location experiment. Before its first local restaurant has officially opened, the company is already building a broader presence that could soon make its coffee, Timbits and breakfast menu familiar sights across the city.
