Second Tim Hortons Planned for Northeast San Antonio
San Antonio’s Northeast Side will soon have a new place for morning coffee, breakfast sandwiches and doughnuts as Tim Hortons prepares to expand its local footprint.
A second planned San Antonio location is expected to open at 14076 Nacogdoches Rd, San Antonio, TX 78247, inside the former Taco Bell and KFC building. The project calls for a $600,000 renovation of the existing 2,708-square-foot restaurant, according to a state construction filing.
Work is scheduled to begin July 15, 2026, with an estimated completion date of Nov. 15, 2026. The project is listed under CO3 Brands, LLC and is described as a remodel of the existing restaurant into a new Tim Hortons.
For residents who regularly travel Nacogdoches Road between Loop 1604 and Interstate 35, the project would add another convenient breakfast and coffee option along a busy commercial corridor serving northeast San Antonio, Live Oak and nearby communities.
Second Tim Hortons Announced for San Antonio
The Nacogdoches Road restaurant is the second Tim Hortons announced for San Antonio.
The chain is also planning a location at Redland Plaza near North Loop 1604 and Redland Road. Together, the two restaurants would give Tim Hortons an early presence across San Antonio’s North and Northeast sides.
The Nacogdoches Road project also gives new life to an existing restaurant property. Instead of building on a new site, the company plans to renovate a familiar building that has already served the surrounding area as a quick-service restaurant.
Construction schedules in state filings can change, and an official opening date has not yet been announced. Details about operating hours, drive-thru service and local hiring are also expected to become clearer as work moves forward.
What San Antonio Customers Can Expect From Tim Hortons
Tim Hortons began in Hamilton, Ontario, in 1964 and has grown into one of Canada’s best-known restaurant brands.
The chain is best known for coffee, doughnuts and breakfast food, but its menu extends beyond the traditional coffee-shop basics. Depending on the location, customers may find hot and iced coffee, cold brew, espresso drinks, tea, frozen beverages, bagels, muffins, croissants, breakfast sandwiches, wraps and other quick meals.
Among its most recognizable offerings are Timbits, the chain’s bite-sized doughnut treats, and the Double Double, a coffee traditionally ordered with two creams and two sugars.
That broader menu helps Tim Hortons stand apart from coffee chains focused mainly on specialty drinks. The brand operates as a mix of coffee shop, doughnut counter and fast-casual breakfast stop, giving customers options for a quick drink, a morning meal or an afternoon snack.
Its straightforward menu and everyday feel have helped Tim Hortons build a loyal following in Canada and in several U.S. markets. The company has more than 6,000 restaurants worldwide and has been gradually expanding its presence in Texas.
A New Option in a Competitive San Antonio Coffee Market
Tim Hortons will enter a crowded local market that includes Starbucks, Dunkin’, Dutch Bros Coffee, neighborhood doughnut shops and a growing number of independent San Antonio cafés.
Its Canadian identity, affordable everyday menu and combination of coffee, bakery items and breakfast food may help it appeal to customers looking for something different.
The restaurant could also draw interest from military families, travelers and former residents of other states or Canada who are already familiar with the brand. For many San Antonio customers, however, the Nacogdoches Road café may provide their first opportunity to try Tim Hortons close to home.
For surrounding neighborhoods, the opening would mean another dining option without adding an entirely new commercial development. Reusing the former Taco Bell and KFC building may also help bring renewed activity to a recognizable property along Nacogdoches Road.
What Happens Next
If construction follows the current schedule, the renovation could be completed by mid-November. Completion of the building work does not necessarily mean the restaurant will open immediately, since inspections, equipment installation, employee training and final preparations may still be required.
Residents can watch for new signage, job postings and an official opening announcement as the project progresses.
For now, the filing offers a clear sign that Tim Hortons is moving ahead with a second San Antonio location—and that the former fast-food building at 14076 Nacogdoches Road is preparing for a new chapter.
