A Houston-area breakfast favorite that has been steadily expanding across Texas is finally ready to welcome diners in Kyle.

The Toasted Yolk Cafe will open its first Kyle restaurant on Oct. 26 at 150 Heroes Memorial Drive, Suite D-100, in the Shops at Brick and Mortar District near Heroes Memorial Park. The full-service restaurant will serve breakfast, brunch and lunch seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

For Kyle residents, the opening adds another sit-down breakfast and brunch destination to one of the city's growing mixed-use areas. It also gives local diners a closer option for a restaurant brand that has already established a presence elsewhere in Central Texas, including Round Rock and Bastrop.

What to Expect at The Toasted Yolk Cafe in Kyle

The Toasted Yolk specializes in the part of the day many restaurants treat as an afterthought: breakfast, brunch and lunch.

Its menu mixes familiar comfort food with more elaborate variations, including omelets, pancakes, French toast, breakfast burritos, sandwiches, salads, soups and brunch cocktails. The company says its sauces, dressings and soups are made from scratch, and it sources ingredients locally when possible.

Among the dishes highlighted for the Kyle restaurant are Nashville Hot Chicken & Waffles, made with hand-breaded chicken tenders, waffles, jalapeños, cheddar cheese and hot honey; the Southern Fried Arnold, featuring biscuit halves topped with chicken tenders, poached eggs and country sausage gravy; and Signature Dragon Fruit Pancakes, finished with a house-made dragon fruit glaze.

One of the brand's signature menu categories is its collection of "Arnolds," The Toasted Yolk's interpretation of eggs Benedict. The restaurant also serves coffee drinks, fresh beverages, mimosas and other brunch cocktails.

That combination of weekday breakfast, weekend brunch and lunch is central to the company's business model. Unlike restaurants that transition into dinner service, The Toasted Yolk typically closes at 3 p.m., keeping its focus squarely on morning and midday dining.

A Texas Restaurant That Started in Conroe

The Toasted Yolk Cafe traces its roots to Conroe, Texas, where Chris Milton and Mathew DeMott opened the first restaurant in 2010.

The founders created the concept around the idea that breakfast and lunch could receive the same attention typically reserved for dinner. According to the company, the goal was to serve chef-inspired versions of familiar morning and midday dishes in a full-service restaurant setting while emphasizing fresh ingredients and daily scratch preparation.

The concept eventually moved into franchising, helping The Toasted Yolk grow from its Houston-area roots into markets across Texas and other Southern states.

Its Central Texas presence has accelerated in 2026. A Round Rock location opened in January at 1700 E. Palm Valley Blvd., while the Bastrop restaurant at 853 State Highway 71 opened later in the year. The company's website also lists additional Austin-area expansion in progress.

Local Owners Chose Kyle After Watching the Community Grow

The Kyle restaurant is being brought to the community by franchisees John and Miriam Diaz, Houston natives who became familiar with Kyle while traveling through the area to visit family.

The couple previously told Community Impact that repeated trips through Kyle allowed them to watch the community's growth firsthand and ultimately helped convince them that the city would be a good fit for The Toasted Yolk.

Their restaurant occupies approximately 3,280 square feet in the Shops at Brick and Mortar District, according to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing. The privately funded tenant build-out was listed at an estimated construction cost of $225,000.

The site puts the restaurant near Heroes Memorial Park and within the developing Brick and Mortar District area, giving nearby residents another option for breakfast meetings, weekend brunches and family meals without traveling farther into the Austin metro.

Kyle Opening Will Include a Community Connection

The Toasted Yolk's entrance into Kyle will also include a connection to a local school community.

According to the restaurant's official Kyle page, the cafe is partnering with the Barton Middle School PTA for its Friends & Family preview event, with proceeds supporting the PTA's work benefiting local students and teachers.

The restaurant's website is also actively promoting hiring for the Kyle location as preparations continue ahead of opening day.

As of Sept. 19, specific public grand-opening giveaways or opening-week promotions had not been announced on the Kyle location page. Residents interested in any later announcements can check directly with The Toasted Yolk as the Oct. 26 debut approaches.

It is another sign of the broader restaurant growth following the city's expanding population and commercial development, particularly around Plum Creek and the Brick and Mortar District.
