Texas Volts to Bring Pro Women’s Softball to Round Rock This Summer

January 16 2026

The Sports Capital of Texas just added another major player to its roster. Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL) has officially announced that Round Rock will be the home of the Texas Volts, a new professional women’s softball team set to begin play in summer 2026 at Dell Diamond.

This marks a historic milestone for both Central Texas sports and the rapidly growing movement behind women’s professional athletics nationwide.

A New Era for Women’s Pro Softball in Texas

The decision to base the Texas Volts in Round Rock comes after the AUSL piloted a four-game series at Dell Diamond during its inaugural 2025 season. Those games drew some of the league’s highest attendance numbers, signaling strong regional interest in professional-level softball.

“As the Sports Capital of Texas, it’s only fitting that we house the highest level of professional softball in Round Rock,” said Mayor Craig Morgan. “Dell Diamond has been a cornerstone of our community for over 25 years, and the addition of the Texas Volts further strengthens its remarkable legacy.”

The Texas Volts join the AUSL’s lineup alongside the Carolina Blaze, Chicago Bandits, Oklahoma City Spark, Portland Cascade, and Utah Talons—forming a competitive six-team national league. The 2026 season officially launches on June 9.

Built on Legends and Rising Stars

The Texas Volts' leadership is already making headlines. Cat Osterman, one of the most decorated pitchers in softball history, will serve as the team’s general manager. A former University of Texas standout and three-time Olympian, Osterman brings elite-level experience and strong local ties.

Joining her on the coaching staff is Ricci Woodard, longtime head coach at Texas State University, who brings a legacy of 878 career wins and decades of player development.

On the field, the Volts will showcase some of the sport’s most recognizable names, including:

  • Rachel Garcia, former UCLA star and Team USA veteran
  • Dejah Mulipola, Olympic catcher and college standout
  • Tiare Jennings, former Oklahoma All-American
  • Mia Scott, recent University of Texas graduate and emerging star
  • Inside the AUSL: A New Model for Pro Softball

The Athletes Unlimited Softball League is not your traditional sports league. Founded with the mission to elevate women's professional sports, AUSL operates under an athlete-centric model that emphasizes leadership, equity, and innovation.

In 2025, AUSL launched its inaugural season using a touring model, bringing games to 12 different U.S. cities—including Round Rock. The goal was to test market engagement, and Round Rock passed with flying colors.

When selecting permanent homes for its six franchises, AUSL officials prioritized:

  • Community support for women’s sports
  • Access to high-quality, professional venues
  • Long-term potential for growth
  • Authentic ties to softball culture

Dell Diamond checked all those boxes, giving Round Rock the edge over several other major markets vying for a team.

How to Get Involved

Softball fans in Central Texas won’t have to wait long to catch the action live. Season ticket memberships are now available for those who want to become Founding Members. Group tickets are also on sale, and single-game tickets will be released soon.

As the Texas Volts gear up for their inaugural season, anticipation is building for what promises to be a game-changing moment in professional women’s sports in Texas.
