Texas School Public Relations Association Recognizes Spring ISD Communications with 37 Star Awards

February 27 2023

The Spring ISD Communications Office was recognized with 37 Star Awards from the Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA) for excellence in school communications during the 2021-22 school year, including two Crystal Award Finalist and three Best of Category awards.

The awards were presented Wednesday Feb. 22 during the 2023 TSPRA Annual Conference Star Awards Banquet in Fort Worth. Every year, TSPRA recognizes and honors exceptional work in print, electronic and visual communications. Along with the Crystal Award Finalists, Spring ISD earned 20 Gold Stars, 14 Silver Stars and one Bronze Star. In total, every submission Spring ISD submitted was recognized in some way.

“As with everything we do at Spring ISD, we aim for excellence,” said Chief of Communications Shane Strubhart. “Our communications team ranks amongst the best in the industry, and we are privileged to have been entrusted with the responsibility of telling the numerous inspiring and transformative stories in Spring ISD. We extend our appreciation to the school administration, the community, and especially Superintendent Hinojosa and the Board of Trustees for their unwavering support. The accolades we have received serve to validate our efforts to foster a robust and informed partnership among parents, staff, students, and the broader community.”

Judges evaluated thousands of submissions statewide and determined the winners based on criteria set by TSPRA. School districts were judged in three separate categories: fewer than 15,000 students, 15,000 to 40,000 students, and more than 40,000 students. Spring ISD, with 33,000 students, competes with school districts with 15,000 to 40,000 students.

For its two Crystal Award Finalists, Spring ISD was honored for both its Video Portfolio and Photography Portfolio. The three Best of Category Awards included the Spring ISD 2021-22 Anti-Drug Poster Series, Spring ISD Bedtime Stories Spanish videos, and a JROTC photo titled “Presenting Our True Colors.
