Summer Art Camps, Family Day, and Teen Event at the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts
Art Market & Family Day: April 22
The Pearl will host its next Art Market and Family Day on Saturday, April 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This free event features an Earth Day theme with tons of fun for all ages. Enjoy art activities centered around Earth Day, live tortoises and reptiles from The Learning Zoo, a puppet show, floral arrangement demonstration and much more! In addition, an indoor/outdoor market will feature activity booths, vendors, and work for sale by local artists.
Immersive Colors: An Event for Teens
The Pearl’s Youth Art Council will host their first event on Saturday, April 29, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Immersive Colors will feature live music, projected art experiences, photo ops, a food truck, and interactive art such as a large paint-by-number outdoors. Student musicians will perform throughout the event.
Summer Art Camps
Inspire your child’s creativity with the Pearl’s Summer Art Camps! Designed for ages 5 to 12, the week-long camps will be offered Monday through Friday from June 12 through August 4, in half-day or all-day formats.
Summer Art Camps at the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts are designed for children ages 5 to 12, and explore a variety of mediums, techniques, and principles of art. For details or to register, visit pearlmfa.org.Each week features a different theme, to engage children with a subject they find interesting. Campers will explore new mediums, techniques and principles of art through hands-on visual art lessons, outdoor activities, and special instruction from guest artists. Through it all they learn artistic processes, art history, curate an exhibition of their own work, and discover the artist within themselves.
Campers also spend time in the galleries of the Pearl each day. This summer the Main Gallery of the Pearl will feature Elephant & Piggie in WE ARE ART! (A Mo Willems Exhibition) while the Cole Gallery is transformed into an immersive exhibition by artist Beth Brubaker, creator of Keittoodles. Surrounded by color and imagination, children will be inspired to head back to their studio classrooms and create their own works of art.
For the first time, the Pearl will kick off its Summer Art Camps with a special two-week, all-day camp that combines visual and theater arts. This camp will take place May 30 through June 9 and partners with Troupe d’Jour to explore visual storytelling, performance art, and theatrical skills.
Pearlformance Concert
Classical music and comedy unite at the next Pearlformance concert on Saturday, May 6 at 4 p.m., when Musique chez moi presents Opera Opsidedown: The Songs of Operatic Comedienne Anna Russell.
With in-depth knowledge and barbed wit, concert comedienne Anna Russell created hilarious spoofs of opera and art song, which are still beloved 70 years later. Join pianist Roger Keele and singers Nathan Holmes (baritone), Jimmy Jacobson (tenor), Shannon Jacobson (soprano) and Rose Kearin (soprano) for an afternoon of laughter and song in the Main Gallery of the Pearl.

Don’t miss the final weeks to see the Pearl’s spring exhibitions, which continue through May 13, 2023.
“America’s Western Landscape,” by photographer Mark Burns, is making its debut in the Main Gallery of the Pearl. The exhibit celebrates the raw beauty, vistas, and natural diversity of the American West, with 50 pieces selected by the artist including black and white photographs, color photographs, and hand-colorized black and white photographs.
In the Cole Gallery this spring, the Pearl features “Hidden Beauty in the Ordinary,” with a dozen works by artist Lindy Chambers. Chambers paints rural scenes of life in the Texas countryside where she lives. Her paintings are vibrant compositions of color that never use the same hue twice. By simply paying attention, she observes often overlooked aspects of life to discover beauty in mobile homes, stray dogs, and piles of trash.
The Hillery Gallery showcases “All That’s Left,” a collection of work by photographer Craig Robbins. His work centers around photographs of similar landscapes or objects, which create a unique series when viewed together.
