Students Excel at Regional Academic Meets to Qualify for State

Twenty-three CFISD entries advanced to the UIL Academic State Meet after placing among the top three in the Region II-6A and Region III-6A Academic Meets, held April 21-22 at Baylor University and Seven Lakes High School, respectively.

The state meet is set for May 17-18 at the University of Texas at Austin.

Cy-Fair High School placed third overall in the Region III-6A meet. The Bobcats were led by first-place finishers Kaytlyn Reed in Computer Applications; Aaron Antony in Current Issues; and the Current Issues team of Antony, Vedanth Hariharan, Keeton Chesnutt and Erykson Zelt.

Cypress Woods High School placed sixth overall at the Region II-6A meet. The Wildcats were led by first-place finishers Andre Zhang and Leon Fong in Computer Science (tied for the title); and the Computer Science Team of Zhang, Fong, Owen Giles and Bowen Yang.

Other regional champions from CFISD were Eric Alfaro of Cypress Ranch High School in Computer Science; Nicole Lee of Cypress Park High School in Poetry Interpretation; Brielle Milligan of Cypress Ranch in Prose Interpretation; Henry Hoover of Bridgeland High School in Spelling; and the Spelling team of Hoover, Eva Nitch, Rebecca Myers and Paige Malone.
