Stepping Up to End Child Hunger in Fort Bend County: Lunches of Love's Annual Walk of Love
The upcoming Walk of Love, hosted by Lunches of Love (LoL), promises to be an invigorating event that bears a significant cause at its heart – the fight against child hunger in Fort Bend County. This impactful non-profit organization, which began as a ministry of the First United Methodist Church Rosenberg back in 2009, has expanded from feeding around 150 children to providing nutritious meals for over 4,000 children across 18 LCISD schools, 3 FBISD schools, and two host sites.
Set your alarms for the early morning of April 6, 2024, as the event is scheduled to kickstart at 10:00 AM and continue until 11:30 AM. Check-in begins at 9:30 AM at the Adriene Mathews Gray Elementary, located at 5055 Sunrise Meadow in Richmond. The event will include a fun run for children 12 and under and a family fun walk.
Though the event itself is free to register, your generous donations are much appreciated and will prove life-changing for many children in need. What's more, you can see exactly the impact of your donation – a $50 donation can sponsor a child's meals for the entire 2024 summer break. This includes 55 nutritious sack lunches and a breakfast for every weekend – a summer packed with not just food, but love and hope. On the other hand, a donation of $20 can feed 16 children, and a $10 donation can feed 8 children.
To be part of this noble cause, pre-register for the event online at lp.constantcontactpages.com/ev/reg/uz2db5m. You can also show your support in style with event T-shirts priced at $15 for youth sizes and $20 for adult sizes.
The Walk of Love by Lunches of Love is more than just a one-day event – it's a call to action to support children in need right here in Fort Bend County, and to learn more about the organization while being a part of its mission. With volunteer opportunities available throughout the year for all ages, everyone can lend a helping hand in their own way. To learn more about Lunches of Love, visit lunchesoflove.net.
Together, we can take strides towards ending child hunger one step at a time.
