May 22 2023

On June 11, 2023, the 8th Annual Texas Best Music Fest FUNdraiser for Champions Kids Camp returns to the Mo's Place stage in Katy to raise funds for Champions Kids Camp, a camp for children who have survived trauma.

This year's lineup includes country music artists Hayden Baker, Mary Sarah, Jimmy Nash, and Grammy songwriters Bill and Kim Nash, and Special Guest Deborah Duncan. Doors open at 2:00 PM and performances start at 3:00 PM. Tickets are $20 each at the door and sponsorship opportunities are available.

Texas Best Music Fest was created in 2013 to bring together some of the best Texas Musicians to help some of the most deserving children in Houston.  Past artists include Roger Creager, Turnpike Troubadours, and the Josh Abbott Band. In 2016, we broke a fundraising record for CKC with over $100,000 being generated from ticket sales and sponsorships. This year's fundraising goal is $125,000.

Based in Richmond, Texas, Champions Kids Camp aims to nurture children who have survived a traumatic injury, illness, or personal loss, such as the loss of a parent or sibling. Founded in 2001 by singer/songwriters, Bill and Kim Nash, in honor of their oldest son, Billy, who survived childhood Leukemia, CKC offers a week-long camp for children between the ages of 8 and 12. The camp gives survivors an opportunity to heal from the “emotional scarring” they have experienced in their young lives.

Over the years, CKC has helped thousands of children to move past their trauma, which gives them improved self-esteem and social skills, reduced fear and anxiety, higher grades in school, and the tools to become a productive part of our community. The main objective at camp is to help instill a sense of pride in every child and let them know that they’re not victims, they’re survivors, and therefore, Champions!
