Stageworks Theatre Brings Interactive Mystery Musical The Mystery of Edwin Drood to Northwest Houston for Valentine’s Season

February 10 2026

For those skipping traditional Valentine’s Day plans or simply looking for something more memorable, Stageworks Theatre in Northwest Houston is offering a night out that blends comedy, music, and audience-driven suspense. The Mystery of Edwin Drood, a murder mystery musical where the audience determines the ending, opens Friday, February 13, and runs through March 8.

Written by Rupert Holmes and based on Charles Dickens’ final, unfinished novel, The Mystery of Edwin Drood is staged as a play-within-a-play performed by a fictional Victorian-era theatre troupe. Every character on stage is a suspect in the mysterious death of young Edwin Drood, and audiences are invited to vote on the outcome—meaning no two performances end the same way. The production mixes sharp wit, memorable songs, and theatrical absurdity, making it a longtime favorite among musical theatre fans.
