Spring ISD Future Educators Signing Day to Celebrate Class of 2023 Seniors Who Aspire to Become Teachers

April 19 2023

Spring Independent School District will celebrate 15 graduating seniors who have completed the district’s CTE education pathway and are participating in the Future Educators Signing Day at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 20 at the Randall Reed Community Center at Planet Ford Stadium (23802 Cypresswood Dr., Spring, TX 77373).

The high school students will be honored in a ceremony that features signing letters of intent to return to the district to teach after graduating from college with an education degree – a focus in which Spring ISD describes as a mission to “grow their own” educators.

“We are thrilled to announce our upcoming program, where we will honor graduating seniors who have made the commitment to return to our district as teachers after completing their college education,” said Director of Career and Technical Education (CTE) Cynthia Williams. “These students have shown a passion for education and a dedication to giving back to their community.”

The education career pathway was first introduced in 2006 at Carl Wunsche Sr. High School. Over the past eight years, the district has expanded the pathway to Dekaney, Spring and Westfield high schools to allow students to be exposed to education as a career option beginning in the ninth grade. In addition, the district’s relationship with Junior Achievement gives an opportunity for students to have hands-on experience through internships and leadership programs across Spring ISD elementary and middle schools.

“This ceremony is a celebration of their achievements and a testament to the bright future of our district,” Williams said. “We look forward to welcoming these future educators back to Spring ISD and providing them with the support and resources they need to succeed as future Spring ISD educators."

The signing ceremony will include remarks from Superintendent Dr. Lupita Hinojosa, Spring ISD Board of Trustees president Justine Durant, Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Dr. Tameka McKeithan, and Director of Career and Technical Education (CTE) Cynthia Williams, as well as former Spring ISD Future Educators students Joey Fussell (Class of 2022) and Janasha Walker (Class of 2018), who is currently a teacher at Bammel Elementary School.
