Spring ISD Buyers Group Raises Over $20K for 72nd Annual Livestock Show

April 19 2023

The 72nd annual Spring Livestock Show & Fair was held over the weekend, with students from across the district taking part in the livestock shows. The yearly highlight of the event is the auction held on Saturday.

One of this year’s biggest bidders? Spring ISD.

The Superintendent’s Stampede bid on — and won — over a dozen animals, including lambs, a steer, several rabbits, pigs, a few turkeys, a textile artwork, a pie, and a cake. The Stampede is an annual joint effort by Spring ISD employees to raise money to bid on animals at the final auction. This year’s final amount raised was $20,223.

“This event is one of the highlights of the year,” said Spring ISD Superintendent Dr. Lupita Hinojosa. “These students work hard year-round to raise these animals, and to get to witness those efforts at the Livestock Show and Fair every year is fantastic. It’s why employees from across the district donate every year to show their support of these incredible and hard-working students.”

The Spring Tri-Club, a 501(c)(3) organization that sponsors the event, uses funds raised at the fair to provide graduating seniors with scholarships.
