Spring Cleaning? Donate Clothing and Household Items to Tomball Emergency Assistance Ministries

Spring Cleaning? Donate Clothing and Household Items to Tomball Emergency Assistance Ministries

March 24 2025

As spring arrives, many homeowners embark on the annual tradition of decluttering their homes—clearing out closets, refreshing living spaces, and replacing furniture. This season presents an excellent opportunity to give back to the community by donating gently-used clothing, furniture, and household items to Tomball Emergency Assistance Ministries (TEAM). Your contributions not only help fund essential services but also provide affordable goods to local families.

TEAM's Mission and Community Impact

Established in 1986 by a coalition of 13 local churches, TEAM is a volunteer-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting Tomball area families in crisis. The organization offers a range of services, including emergency assistance with food, clothing, medical and dental care, and financial aid for household expenses. By walking alongside individuals in need, TEAM aims to help them achieve an independent lifestyle.

The Role of the Resale Shop

Central to TEAM's operations is its Resale Shop, located at 300 W. Main Street in downtown Tomball. The shop sells a variety of donated items, such as clothing, furniture, home décor, and kitchenware. Proceeds from sales directly support TEAM's food pantry, social programs, and operating costs, ensuring that financial donations can be fully allocated to client assistance.

Accepted Donations and Guidelines

TEAM welcomes donations of gently-used items, including:

  • Clothing

  • Furniture, art, and home décor

  • Baby gear

  • Linens such as sheets, towels, and tablecloths

  • Books, CDs, DVDs, and records

  • Household items, kitchenware, and gadgets

  • Electronics and small appliances

  • Sporting goods

  • Certain medical equipment like wheelchairs and walkers

However, some items cannot be accepted due to safety and disposal concerns, including mattresses, large wall mirrors, certain baby equipment, and damaged furniture.

Donation Drop-Off and Pick-Up Services

Donations can be dropped off at the Resale Shop's double doors in the alley behind the building. Items are accepted on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., or until capacity is reached. Volunteers and staff are available during these hours to assist with unloading. For large or heavy furniture, TEAM offers a pick-up service; interested donors can submit an online request form through TEAM's website.

A Win-Win for Donors and the Community

Donating to TEAM during your spring cleaning not only declutters your home but also supports a network of services that benefit the Tomball community. Your contributions help fund programs that provide food, clothing, and financial assistance to families in need, embodying the spirit of neighbors helping neighbors.
