The Ranch in Magnolia Plans $6.5 Million Indoor Volleyball Facility as The Farm League Expands Youth Sports Complex

Families involved in youth sports in Magnolia could soon have another place for their children to practice, compete and develop their skills. A new $6.5 million indoor volleyball facility is planned at The Ranch, a 60-acre sports complex being developed by The Farm League along FM 1488 near Magnolia High School.

The proposed project, identified as The Ranch Volleyball Building, would add 33,750 square feet of indoor space at 14678 FM 1488 in Magnolia, according to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation construction filing. Construction is scheduled to begin January 4, 2027, with an anticipated completion date of September 17, 2027.

For Magnolia families who regularly travel throughout the Greater Houston area for practices, tournaments and weekend games, the addition represents another potential opportunity to participate in organized youth sports closer to home. It also adds to the larger plans for The Ranch, which is being developed as a destination for youth athletics and related businesses in Montgomery County.

What Is The Ranch? A New 60-Acre Youth Sports Complex in Magnolia

Located near the intersection of FM 1488 and FM 149, adjacent to Magnolia High School, The Ranch is a new sports complex from The Farm League, an established Greater Houston youth sports organization.

According to The Farm League's website, construction has already begun on the 60-acre development, which is planned to accommodate multiple sports and provide space for families spending time at the complex throughout the week and on weekends.

The Ranch's announced features include nine baseball fields, four football fields, multipurpose field options and indoor batting cages. The development also anticipates nearby retail space for food, services, shopping and lodging, giving visiting teams and families access to additional amenities just across the parking lot.

The Farm League describes The Ranch as approximately 22 minutes from its existing park, positioning the Magnolia location as an expansion of its established sports operations.

The planned volleyball building would introduce another dedicated indoor sports facility to the property. While the construction filing identifies the building's size, estimated cost and construction schedule, it does not specify the number of volleyball courts, spectator seating capacity or additional interior amenities.

The Farm League Brings Established Youth Sports Programs to Magnolia

The Ranch is part of The Farm League's broader youth sports operations in the Houston area. The organization offers programs in baseball, softball, flag football, 7-on-7 football, basketball, volleyball and soccer.

Through its existing leagues and facilities, The Farm League provides opportunities for young athletes to participate in organized sports, develop their abilities and gain experience playing alongside teammates.

Its programs also bring together parents, coaches, volunteers and families who spend considerable time supporting youth athletics.

The organization operates The Farm League Park, commonly known as TFL Park, and provides information about its sports programs, playing fields and live games through its website.

The expansion into Magnolia gives The Farm League additional room to accommodate sports activities while establishing a presence in an area that continues to attract families and residential development.

For local parents, having a variety of sports available within the same organization can make it easier to explore different athletic interests as children grow. Baseball, football, volleyball and other programs each offer different opportunities for participation, whether a child is just learning the game or looking for more competitive experiences.

More information about the organization and its current programs is available at The Farm League's official website.

The Stables at The Ranch Will Include Volleyball and Basketball Courts

Additional details published by The Farm League identify the planned indoor facility as The Stables at The Ranch, a volleyball and basketball complex designed to accommodate six volleyball courts or three basketball courts.

The Farm League's website describes the indoor facility as approximately 33,000 square feet and includes digital renderings and floor layouts showing how the space could be configured for both sports. The newly registered construction project lists a slightly larger footprint of 33,750 square feet.

The flexibility to accommodate both volleyball and basketball could make the building useful for a variety of youth sports activities, although specific programming, tournament schedules and registration opportunities have not yet been announced for the new facility.

Families interested in seeing the proposed design can visit The Ranch project page, where The Farm League has shared renderings and construction information.

The Ranch Could Bring More Sports Families and Businesses to FM 1488

Beyond the athletic facilities themselves, The Ranch is also being marketed as an opportunity for commercial development near one of Magnolia's major intersections.

Commercial real estate listings for The Farm League Ranch at Magnolia describe more than 40 acres of sporting fields and approximately 17 acres of commercial property available for sale or ground lease. Potential uses include restaurants, entertainment businesses, retail establishments and other services catering to local residents and visiting sports families.

Marketing materials also identify opportunities for additional sports, including softball, soccer, lacrosse and rugby, although not all of those activities have been confirmed as operating programs at the new complex.

The combination of youth sports and nearby businesses could be particularly relevant for Magnolia's growing residential communities. Weekend tournaments often bring families to sports complexes for several hours at a time, creating demand for nearby meals, shopping and other conveniences.

For businesses considering a location along FM 1488, the sports complex could introduce an additional customer base beyond the surrounding neighborhoods.

Construction Timeline and What Happens Next

The Ranch Volleyball Building was registered with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation on October 20, 2026.

The filing identifies Stables Indoor as the project owner and Duayne Freeman & Associates of Conroe as the design firm. The project is privately funded, with an estimated construction cost of $6.5 million.

Construction is currently scheduled to begin January 4, 2027, and conclude September 17, 2027. These dates are preliminary and may change as the project progresses. The anticipated construction completion date should not be considered a confirmed public opening date.

Details about volleyball and basketball league registration, court rentals, tournaments, operating hours and admission policies have not yet been released.

As The Ranch takes shape near Magnolia High School, the development could give local athletes more options for playing and practicing while creating another gathering place for families whose schedules often revolve around youth sports.
