Sheriff's Office Prepares for County Fair Goers

September 21 2022

The Fort Bend County Fair kicks off Friday, Sept. 23, and Fort Bend County Sheriff’s deputies and surrounding law enforcement agencies will be present to ensure public safety. As in years past, deputies will be patrolling the fairground and keeping an eye out every day of the fair, which runs through Oct. 2.

Some of the most common occurrences at the fair are theft, a lost child, or a fight. Sheriff Eric Fagan reminds everyone to do their part to make this year’s fair a safe, fun, and secure one.

“It’s easy for children to get separated from their parents, so keep an eye on your children. Have a designated checkpoint in case you get separated and know where the “lost child” center is located,” said Sheriff Fagan. “The fair midway can get crowded and become a haven for pickpocketing thieves, so be aware of your surroundings. And remember, if you see anything that’s suspicious, say something. If it’s an emergency, call 9-1-1. Our deputies will be there to help you.”

Sheriff’s deputies will assist with traffic control, and will be available to anyone who needs assistance.

"Our deputies will peruse the fairground throughout each day of the fair,” Sheriff Fagan said. “We will be here for our citizens and visitors as always.”
