Royal ISD Welcomes Two Experienced Education Leaders to Key District Roles
As Royal ISD continues to grow and invest in its students, district leaders are welcoming two experienced educators whose careers have been built around helping schools, teachers and students succeed. The district has announced the addition of Dr. Felecia Carrington as the new principal of Royal Junior High and Christopher Oldham as Executive Director of Support Programs & Secondary Education.
The appointments bring a combined wealth of experience in campus leadership, instructional improvement and student support, strengthening Royal ISD's efforts to provide high-quality educational opportunities for students across the district. For families, these leadership additions represent continued investment in strong schools, student achievement and a positive learning environment as Royal ISD prepares for the upcoming school year.
Dr. Felecia Carrington to Lead Royal Junior High
Dr. Carrington joins Royal ISD with 27 years of experience in public education, having served students and families in both Fort Bend ISD and Alief ISD. Throughout her career, she has held leadership positions as an assistant principal and associate principal while also serving as a classroom teacher and lead high school counselor.
Her experience spans a wide range of educational settings, including Pre-K through adult high school campuses, Emergent Bilingual programs and alternative education campuses. Along the way, she has helped lead schools that earned A accountability ratings, reflecting a strong record of academic success and continuous improvement.
Before beginning her career in public education, Dr. Carrington worked with Children's Protective Services, supporting children and families—an experience that further shaped her student-centered approach to leadership.
Her educational background includes:
- Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from Prairie View A&M University
- Master of Arts in Counseling from Prairie View A&M University
- Master of Science in Educational Administration from the University of Houston-Victoria
- Doctorate in Educational Leadership with a specialization in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Houston-Clear Lake
She also holds certifications as a principal, counselor, ESL educator, special education educator and business educator.
Beyond campus leadership, Dr. Carrington remains actively involved in professional organizations that support educators across Texas. She recently completed the Project Zero Institute at Harvard University, serves as Logistics Chair for the Texas Association of Black School Educators, and was elected in May 2026 to the Executive Board of the Houston Area Association of Black School Educators. She also regularly provides professional development for educators both nationally and internationally.
Her leadership philosophy centers on empowering others and building capacity among students, teachers and staff while continuing to learn alongside them.
Christopher Oldham Joins Royal ISD Executive Leadership Team
Royal ISD is also welcoming Christopher Oldham as its new Executive Director of Support Programs & Secondary Education.
Mr. Oldham brings more than 17 years of experience in education, along with a background in military service that continues to influence his leadership style. Before entering education, he served as a combat medic in the United States Army during Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he developed the values of service, teamwork and leadership that have remained central throughout his career.
His educational leadership experience includes roles as:
- Classroom teacher
- Adjunct professor at Lone Star College
- High school assistant principal in Conroe ISD
- Junior high principal in Coldspring-Oakhurst ISD
- Career and Technical Education instructional specialist in Cy-Fair ISD
- Principal of Waller High School for the past five years
As principal of Waller High School, Mr. Oldham led a comprehensive 6A Title I campus serving more than 3,200 students and approximately 335 faculty and staff. He also oversaw an $18 million campus budget while leading initiatives focused on academic excellence, organizational leadership and continuous improvement.
His work has earned statewide recognition. During the 2024-2025 school year, he was named Region 4 District Secondary Principal of the Year, honoring his collaborative leadership and dedication to improving student outcomes while strengthening partnerships with educators, families and the broader community.
Mr. Oldham earned his bachelor's degree from Sam Houston State University and his master's degree from Lamar University. He is currently completing a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership at Liberty University.

As Royal ISD continues to serve a growing community, experienced leaders can help guide instructional excellence, strengthen campus culture and support long-term student success.
With Dr. Carrington leading Royal Junior High and Mr. Oldham joining the district's executive leadership team, Royal ISD is adding two educators whose careers reflect a commitment to service, collaboration and helping students reach their full potential.
