Round 1 Bowling & Arcade Complex Set to Transform Former Sears Store at Willowbrook Mall
Willowbrook Mall will soon be home to an exciting new entertainment destination. A Round 1 Bowling & Arcade complex is set to move into the space previously occupied by Sears, which shut its doors in 2020.
This multi-entertainment complex, founded by Masahiko Sugino, first opened in Japan in 1993. Over the years, it has become a leading destination for a variety of indoor activities, catering to a broad clientele of all ages. Now, it has more than 100 stores in Japan and over 50 locations throughout the United States.
For those who love games, Round 1 will be a paradise. Arcade enthusiasts can look forward to playing both nostalgic favorites and new attractions, including some exclusive machines imported from Japan.
The facility will also have a bowling alley, providing a fun and relaxed environment for both casual and serious bowlers. Another highlight for the patrons will be the professional-grade pool tables, perfect for a game with friends and practicing trick shots.
For those who prefer singing to gaming, Round 1 will feature private Karaoke rooms, where guests can unleash their inner performer while friends and family watch and cheer.
Ping pong tables and a dart area will also be available, catering to both beginners and seasoned players.
At select locations, Round 1 also offers a Kids Play Zone, a clean and safe indoor playground area for kids to explore, meet new friends, and play. At this time, it is unclear if a Kids Play Zone will be available at the Willowbrook Mall location.
One of Round 1's standout features is its 'Spo-Cha' indoor sports complex, which allows customers to enjoy a variety of sports and activities for a fixed price for 90 minutes, 3 hours or all day play.

The complex will also be home to a casual dining area, serving a range of dishes from burgers, pizza, wings to Japanese favorites like a teriyaki bowl and bento combinations, plus mochi ice cream.
The transformation of the Sears store into the new Round 1 complex is due to begin in late February 2025, with a projected completion date of mid-October that year. According to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), renovations are estimated to cost around $7 million.
The Round 1 complex at Willowbrook Mall won't be the only new addition to the brand's Texas portfolio. A second complex is set to open at Deerbrook Mall in Humble, joining the existing locations in Grapevine, Arlington, and San Antonio.
