Rotary Club of Katy to Award $125,000 in Scholarships to Multiple Recipients

January 19 2024

The Rotary Club of Katy will be awarding $125,000 in scholarships for students pursuing post-secondary education, with the application deadline fast approaching. Emphasizing the importance of financial assistance and service to the community, this program reflects the global commitment of Rotary International, the largest global network of service clubs spanning across 160 countries.

Since 1946, the Rotary Club of Katy has been supporting the community by promoting service as a worthy endeavor and fostering relationships for service opportunities, now with a membership of over 80 professional men and women. Raising funds through the Katy Triathlon, Katy Rice Harvest Festival and Wild West Brewfest, the Rotary Club of Katy scholarships are made possible through community support at these events.

This unique program presents scholarships ranging between $2,500 to $10,000, offering support towards post-secondary education expenses specifically for Katy ISD seniors who will be graduating this spring. The application process is handled online, with the deadline for applications set for February 1st, 2024.

Applicants are requested to provide a copy of their transcript and to complete an online application, which includes drafting essays focusing on two central themes: financial need and service. According to the Rotary Club of Katy, the financial need essay should articulate the applicant's need for financial support and how this scholarship would enhance their chance to further their education, while the second essay is service-oriented, highlighting the applicant's service to their community.

The Rotary Club of Katy's Scholarship Committee will invite selected candidates for interviews scheduled for the weekend of February 29 through March 2, 2024, providing an opportunity to not only secure financial support for higher education, but also to become part of a network dedicated to making a difference.
