As spring approaches in northwest Houston, families in Champions Park are already beginning to think about one of the neighborhood’s most anticipated summer traditions — the Champions Park Stars Swim Team.

The community swim team will officially kick off the upcoming season with a registration event on Sunday, April 12 from 3:00–5:00 p.m. at the Champions Park Clubhouse, located at 13635 Champions Park Drive in Houston. Note that this is a rescheduled date from the original March 29. The gathering offers families an opportunity to learn about the team, meet coaches and volunteers, and register swimmers for the upcoming season.

For many residents, the summer swim team represents more than just competition. It is a longstanding neighborhood activity where children build confidence in the water while forming friendships that often last beyond the swim season.

While the team proudly represents Champions Park, its doors are open to swimmers from surrounding areas as well. Under NWAL guidelines, swimmers from neighborhoods without their own swim teams — or those whose teams grant permission — are welcome to participate.

This inclusive approach allows more young athletes to experience summer league swimming, even if their neighborhood does not have a program of its own.

The team welcomes swimmers ages 4 through 18, offering a structured yet supportive environment where young athletes can stay active, improve their swimming technique, and enjoy the camaraderie of a team setting.
