Reining Strength Celebrates a Decade of Service and Dedication with Derby Day Party
This year, locals have the opportunity to experience the thrill of the Kentucky Derby close to home. Reining Strength Therapeutic Horsemanship is hosting their 10th Anniversary Derby Day Party on May 4, 2024, promising an unforgettable afternoon of southern charm, horse racing excitement, and philanthropy. The event, to be held at the JW Marriott Houston by The Galleria, aims to combine the unique traditions of the iconic Kentucky Derby with the spirit of community camaraderie.
"We can't wait to see what the future holds and look forward to continuing to make an impact with the help of our supporters for many years to come," shared Heather Hernandez Sedillo, the Executive Director of Reining Strength, on the occasion of this significant anniversary.
Reining Strength, established in 2014, has been providing equine-assisted services to the Fort Bend County and the greater West Houston area. The organization has made a profound impact on the lives of many, offering therapeutic horsemanship services for children and adults with physical, cognitive, social, or emotional needs. Their mission: to help people realize their individual potential through customized equine-assisted services by partnering with horses.
The organization's roots are deeply embedded in the principles of therapeutic horsemanship, which identifies the unique neuromuscular stimulation provided by the rhythmic movement of horses. Participants in the program not only learn riding skills but also build a strong relationship with the horses by taking part in their care and grooming.
Moreover, Reining Strength also offers an equine-assisted learning (EAL) program - an experiential learning approach that promotes the development of life skills, ranging from behavior and emotional regulation to leadership skills and team building.
The Reining Strength Derby Day Party Fundraiser will begin at 3:30 pm, presenting attendees with an authentically 'Derby' experience. They will have the chance to participate in the exuberance of the "Run for the Roses" through a live stream of the 150th Kentucky Derby, along with an entertaining live and silent auction, a classic mint julep toast, and a festive ladies’ hat contest and men’s boot-n-bowties contest.
