Recharge with Live Music: Katy's Weekend Events Offer Post-Hurricane Relief

The My Neighborhood News Live Beats Katy series is brought to you in part by Maria Harrington of Katy Area/West Houston Music and spotlights local bands and venues in Katy. Katy Area/West Houston Music is a public Facebook group that brings local musicians together to share information about their upcoming gigs, collaborate and support one another. 


As Katy area residents recover from the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl, this weekend's live music events provide a much-needed opportunity to unwind and relax. Whether enjoying soulful tunes at local venues or outdoor performances, Katy's live music scene offers something to lift spirits and bring people together in celebration of resilience and recovery.

The Abbey Pub @ 7:00 PM | White Haven, Just Fan Fiction and Garbage Girlfriend 
All based in Katy, Whitehaven is a five-piece alternative rock/grunge band, Just Fan Fiction plays alternative rock tunes, and Garbage Girlfriend is an all-female band, headlining KPRC TV's Eat Like a Local Crawfish Fest at Discovery Green.
 
Baker Street Katy @ 9:30 PM | A Sure Thing
A Sure Thing is a Houston-based five-piece party band that covers a diverse range of genres including rock, pop, country, R&B, jazz, and Latin favorites.
 
John Lassen, known as Not Really Willie from The Highwaymen Tribute, began his musical journey at age 7 and has since performed across the US, Canada, the UK, and Australia, showcasing his talents on guitar, keyboards, harmonica, and vocals in various tribute bands including Willie Nelson for nearly a decade.
 
Sticky Bandits, Houston's new 90's alternative rock band, specializes in playing songs mostly heard on 94.5 The Buzz.
 
Bubba Westly, a talented musician, singer, and songwriter from Brenham, transitioned from a promising baseball career to pursue his passion for music, showcasing originality and skill across various instruments and musical genres with charismatic stage presence.

Texas TnT is a Houston-based high energy variety band that plays hits from the 70's, 80's, and 90's to today's chart-toppers across various genres.
 
Texas Tradition @ 6:30 PM | Adrian's Fault Duo
Two members of Adrian’s Fault, a versatile 5-piece band, will be performing a set at Texas Tradition. The band has entertained the Houston area with hits from the 60s to today for over 10 years.
 
The Mighty ThunderPants, self-proclaimed kings of 80s party rock, emerged in the late 1980s, resurfacing in 2005. They've performed extensively in Houston, even opening for renowned acts like Biz Markie and Vanilla Ice.
 
Columbus, Texas native Ronnie Ramirez is an acoustic solo artist.
