For families across Rosenberg and Fort Bend County, being prepared for an emergency isn’t just a recommendation—it’s something that can directly impact safety, property, and peace of mind. One upcoming event is designed to make that preparation easier, more approachable, and even fun.

The 2026 Ready Fort Bend Expo, happening Saturday, May 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds – Building C (4310 Highway 36 South in Rosenberg, TX), brings together local emergency responders, public safety officials, and community organizations to help residents take simple, meaningful steps toward readiness.

Hosted by Fort Bend County Homeland Security & Emergency Management, the annual expo—now in its third year—was created to strengthen community resilience by connecting residents with the tools, knowledge and people they need before disaster strikes.

Why Emergency Preparedness Matters for Fort Bend County Residents

From hurricanes and flooding to everyday emergencies, Fort Bend County continues to see the importance of being prepared at both the household and community level. Events like the Ready Fort Bend Expo are designed to bridge the gap between awareness and action—giving families real skills they can use at home.

“Preparedness is a shared responsibility. The Ready Fort Bend Expo brings together the tools, partners, and knowledge our residents need to be ready before an emergency happens,” said Martha Rincon, Community Outreach Specialist.

By making preparedness accessible and hands-on, the event helps residents feel more confident in their ability to respond when it matters most.

Building a More Resilient Fort Bend County

What makes the Ready Fort Bend Expo stand out is its focus on bringing the entire community together—public safety agencies, nonprofit organizations and residents—all in one place.

“Our goal is to make preparedness practical, accessible, and engaging for families. When people leave this event, we want them to feel confident that they can take simple steps to protect themselves and their loved ones,” Rincon added.

Since its inception in 2024, the event has continued to grow in both attendance and impact, becoming a central part of Fort Bend County’s broader effort to promote public safety awareness and long-term preparedness.

What Happens Next: Turning Preparedness Into Everyday Action

For many residents, attending the Ready Fort Bend Expo is just the beginning. The real value comes from what happens afterward—creating emergency plans, assembling supply kits, and having conversations with family members about what to do in uncertain situations.

In a fast-growing area like Rosenberg and Fort Bend County, where communities continue to expand and evolve, that kind of preparation helps protect not just individual households, but entire neighborhoods.

Preparedness starts with small, informed steps—and events like this make those steps easier to take. Residents are encouraged to attend, explore, and take advantage of the resources available throughout the day.
