Quilt Show Coming to the Berry Center
February 06 2023
The West Houston Quilter's Guild is gearing up to present their 2023 Flights of Fancy Quilt Show, which will be held at a the Berry Center from March 3 - 4.
The WHQG makes quilts for the charities in our area. Established as a 501(c)3, this non-profit organization and was founded in 1993 with the purpose of educating, developing, and nurturing an appreciation for the art of quilting and its history. WHQG find nursing homes in our neighborhoods and then present a quilt to every client in that home. They give away 200 - 300 quilts, numerous preemie blankets, and hundreds of Christmas stockings for foster care, all made by their members each year.
How are they able to do this? WHQG has a vast number of talented guild members who sew, and in addition to local and nationwide fabric contributions, they fund their efforts like buying batting, fabrics, thread, and more by putting on a quilt show every other year. At this year's quilt show, there will be more than 20 vendors participating, plus a silent auction, market boutique of handmade items, and Grandmother’s Attic, offering gently used sewing, quilting items, fabrics, tools, and quilt/sewing/craft items at a huge discounted price. WHQG also has a drawing for their raffle quilt: Hummingbirds and Flowers.
