Pumpkins with a Purpose: Cypress Area Church Fosters Community at Annual Pumpkin Patch
With fall slowly creeping in and pumpkins showing up on shelves at stores across town, consumers have plenty of options for pumpkin picking to adorn their homes for the autumn season. But one Cypress area church offers a unique way to not only pick up pumpkins for your home display and carving fun, but also an opportunity to enjoy quality time with your family while making memories in support of the community.
On October 6, Cypress Methodist Church on Cypress North Houston will welcome the community once again for their 15th annual Pumpkin Patch, a beloved destination for local families to get in the fall spirit. Open daily from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM through the month of October, the front lawn of the church will host a stunning pumpkin patch complete with several thoughtfully designed scenes that create the perfect backdrop for fall photos. After pictures, stroll over to the kids activity area for story-time, a Mario Kart racetrack and slides, plus games and craft making on the weekends. And best of all, there is no admission fee to visit the Pumpkin Patch. Visitors simply pay for the pumpkins they wish to take home and will receive a delicious loaf of homemade pumpkin bread with their purchase.
Pumpkins purchased from the Cypress Methodist Church Pumpkin Patch are not only beautiful - they are packed with purpose. Proceeds from the Pumpkin Patch fund youth and children’ s mission trips and projects, as well as community outreach events throughout the year. What began as a youth group fundraiser over 15 years ago has grown into a favorite family tradition in the Cypress area that provides an opportunity to bring the community together in a fun, wholesome environment.
"Pumpkin Patch at Cypress Methodist Church is about community. Yes, we raise funds for ministries and events but that is not our focus. We want to create a space for our community to come together, enjoy time outside where kids can run and play and adults can relax, even if it’s just for a few minutes," said Chris McCollum, director of student ministries and Pumpkin Patch coordinator for Cypress Methodist Church.
Throughout the month of October, Cypress Methodist Church will also host Meet Me At The Patch family-friendly meet-ups. Plus, families are invited to come out for free Friday Night Fun events like Family Movie Night on October 13, DJ Dance Glow Party on October 20 and Latino Night hosted by Cypress Español on October 26. Check out the Cypress Methodist Church Facebook page for details.
