Proud Pie Revives Community Spirit with the 2025 Katy Pie Run Despite Brick-and-Mortar Closure
Despite the closure of their renowned brick-and-mortar location earlier this month, Proud Pie, the beloved artisan pie bakery in the Cinco Ranch area of Katy, will be hosting the third annual Katy Pie Run next year after all.
A cherished event in the Katy community, the Katy Pie Run is Proud Pie's largest annual fundraiser. Scheduled for Saturday, January 18, 2025 at the Fellowship Church, the Katy Pie Run is a melody of sweat, smiles, and sweetness for a worthy cause. Participants can look forward to a fun and tasty event chock-full with pie tastings, culminating in an epic "Brunch Throw Down" contest.
Although Proud Pie closed its doors due to the rising cost of ingredients and financial challenges, their spirit of giving and community engagement lives on. Today, Proud Pie announced on social media that a number of generous partners have stepped up and offered their professional kitchens to bake the hundreds of pies needed to pull off this monumental task.

"Proud Pie is working with some fantastic people to be able to have our pies and slices available again for purchase. Let's raise a ton of money for Camp Hope and the PTSD Foundation this run," read the announcement.
In addition to the camaraderie and delectable treats, the Katy Pie Run gives locals a chance to run for a cause. The proceeds from this event have been dedicated to supporting Camp Hope, part of the PTSD Foundation. Since 2012, Camp Hope has provided crucial interim housing and comprehensive support in Houston for combat veterans grappling with post-traumatic stress. Through peer mentoring, licensed healthcare sessions, and holistic activities, Camp Hope guides veterans through a six to nine-month program designed to equip them with life skills and facilitate successful reintegration into society. Over 1,800 veterans have benefited, achieving milestones such as education, employment, and family reunification, while the foundation continues its national outreach to combat veteran suicide.
The Katy Pie Run is just one of the many ways that Proud Pie has demonstrated its love for the community. Proud Pie was known not just for its unique pies, but also for its heartfelt community engagement through sponsorships, charitable contributions, and fostering connection in their pie shop through a common love of food. Born nine years ago, it quickly became a treasured spot for both locals and dessert lovers. Despite the financial setbacks that led to closure, Proud Pie's commitment to the community remains unwavering.
