Precinct 4 Expands Fitness Classes as Options Increase for All Age Groups
Today, Harris County Precinct 4 announced that nine new and returning fitness instructors will be leading classes at all community centers.
Beginning in December, Precinct 4 will offer 44 free fitness classes across eight community centers. Certified instructors will lead yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi, dance exercise, and more, giving residents of all ages a way to improve their physical and mental health. These classes will be free and available to all ages.
Commissioner Lesley Briones helped improve County-wide purchasing standards, including a requirement that all independent contractors participate in a competitive process. As a result, local entrepreneurs and small business owners will have increased opportunities to serve as County vendors, while the County ensures it is efficiently deploying taxpayer resources to best serve the community.
"By offering fitness classes that are free to the public and available to all ages, we are breaking down the financial barriers that often prevent people from prioritizing their physical and mental well-being," Briones said. "I thank Precinct 4 residents for their patience as the County transitioned to a new process with higher standards. While we strive to minimize interruptions, we will always prioritize fiscal responsibility, compliance, and quality of service.”
