Playa Bowls Opens New Spring Location at Springs Crossing With Acai Bowls, Smoothies and New Yuzu Menu
A new taste of the shore has arrived in Spring, giving local families, students, commuters and nearby workers another quick-service option for fruit bowls, smoothies, juices and cold brew close to home.
Playa Bowls in Spring, Texas has opened at 6625 Spring Stuebner Road, Suite 210, in the Springs Crossing development in Harris County. The new shop officially opened its doors Friday, June 26, at 8 a.m., with the team sharing that a larger grand opening celebration will be held at a later date.
For residents in the Spring and Klein area, the opening adds a fresh, casual stop along the growing Spring Stuebner Road corridor — one that fits easily into a morning routine, after-school treat, lunch break or weekend errand run.
A New Smoothie and Fruit Bowl Restaurant Opens in Spring
The Playa Bowls Spring location was built out as a smoothie and fruit bowl quick-service restaurant, according to state construction permit information. The project involved an interior build-out at Springs Crossing, with an estimated construction cost of $220,000 and approximately 1,435 square feet of space.
The permit listed a March 1, 2026, start date and June 1, 2026, completion date, helping set the stage for the shop’s late-June opening.
Its arrival reflects continued commercial growth in the Spring area, where new restaurants, retail concepts and neighborhood services are filling in along major corridors serving nearby homes, schools and businesses.
Bringing Beach-Inspired Bowls to the Spring Community
Playa Bowls began in 2014 in Belmar, New Jersey, after founders Rob Giuliani and Abby Taylor drew inspiration from surf trips to places such as Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, California and Hawaii. In many surf towns, acai and pitaya bowls had become part of the local rhythm — something refreshing after a day near the water.
The founders brought that idea back to the Jersey Shore with what started as a small sidewalk cart and grew into a national brand built around superfruit bowls, smoothies and a relaxed coastal feel. “Playa” means “beach” in Spanish, and the company has continued to lean into that identity as it expanded across the country.
By 2023, Playa Bowls had opened its 200th restaurant, spanning half the United States. The brand has since continued to grow, describing itself as a lifestyle centered on health, happiness and simple food shared with good people.
That background is part of what makes the Spring opening notable. The new shop is not just another smoothie counter; it brings a recognizable national concept with a beach-town origin story to a fast-growing part of northwest Harris County.
