Passport Fair Scheduled at Katy Branch Library to Serve Local Residents

January 13 2026

Residents in Williamsburg Settlement who are planning upcoming travel or need to apply for a U.S. passport will have a convenient, close-to-home option later this month. The Katy Branch Library will host a Passport Fair on Friday, January 23, 2026, bringing trained passport staff directly into the community for a limited-time event.

The passport fair is made possible with support from passport specialists from Katherine Tyra @ Bear Creek Branch Library, who will be on-site to process applications and assist residents through the required steps.

Passport Fair Details

The event will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Katy Branch Library, located at 5414 Franz Road, Katy, TX 77493. Service is first come, first served, and the line will be closed at 4:00 p.m. or earlier if capacity is reached. Those waiting in line should be aware that service is not guaranteed if demand is high.

Residents are encouraged to arrive early and fully prepared to avoid losing their place in line.

What Applicants Need to Bring

All applicants must arrive with every required document and payment. Anyone missing required items will not be able to proceed. Required materials include:

  • A completed DS-11 passport application
  • Official proof of U.S. citizenship, such as:
  • A birth certificate, or
  • A naturalization certificate
  • A government-issued photo ID, including:
  • A driver’s license, or
  • A state ID along with a Social Security card
  • Payment for the U.S. Department of State (check or money order)
  • Payment for the acceptance facility (check or money order)

Applicants must be present in person. Children under age 16 must attend with all custodial adults, in accordance with federal passport regulations.

Additional Options for Residents

Residents with complex applications or larger families may prefer to schedule appointments in advance through hcpl.net/passports. Adults renewing a passport may qualify to use Form DS-82 or the online renewal service at travel.state.gov, which can be completed without visiting an acceptance facility.

A Practical Resource for the Community

By hosting this passport fair, the Katy Branch Library is helping ensure that residents of Williamsburg Settlement have access to essential services locally, without the need to travel farther or navigate appointment backlogs elsewhere.

For questions prior to the event, residents can call 832-927-5590 to speak with passport staff directly.
