October Children's Programs at Mission Bend Branch Library

Mother Goose Time | Thursdays at 10:15 am
Provides caregiver/infant multisensory circle-time activities -- including simple sign language, folksongs and lullabies, and finger plays -- that are specially designed to stimulate babies’ social, emotional, and physical development through rhythm and music. Mother Goose Time is intended for infants from age 1 month to 12 months of age. Mother Goose Time will take place on October 6, 13, 20, and 27.
Toddler Time | Wednesdays at 10:15 am
Offers caregiver/child activities, stories, and songs for older babies, from 1 to 3 years of age. Craft packets will be given out at the end of each program, so that children may take them home to enjoy. Toddler Time will take place on October 5, 12, 19, and 26.
Story Time | Tuesdays at 10:15 am
Provides stories, movies, and age-appropriate craft activities for preschool children, from 3 to 6 years of age. Craft packets will be given out at the end of each program, so that children may take them home to enjoy. Story Time will take place on October 4, 11, 18, and 25.
Pajama Night Story Time | 1st and 3rd Wednesdays at 6:30 pm
Gives families with children of all ages an evening option for some activities presented during the daytime. Craft packets will be given out at the end of each program, so that children may take them home to enjoy. Pajama Night Story Time will take place on October 5 and 19.
After-School Break | 2nd and 4th Thursdays at 4:15 pm
Crafts, activities, stories, and more for school-aged children in grades K through 5. Participants gather in the Meeting Room. The October schedule is as follows:
- October 13 – Batter Up! Children will create their own baseball card and turn a sugar cookie into an edible baseball!
- October 27 – Mad Hatters. Create a crazy grocery-bag hat and a playing-card queen.
The “Hour of Tech: Intro to MS Word & PowerPoint” class will take place on Monday, October 10, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm. Each month, a different homework resource or computer application will be featured for students in grades 4 through 8. The October program will focus on using these Microsoft programs to design class presentations, projects, and essays. Tricks and shortcuts will be demonstrated. Seating is limited andreservations are required for this program.
The “Creative Connection: Hocus Pocus Survival Game” activity – for youth ingrades 5 through 8 – will take place on Saturday, October 15, beginning at 2:30 pm. Students will solve clues and participate in activities that will keep the Sanderson sisters from waking up and causing chaos in town.
Special Family Event
Families with children of all ages are invited to a “Fall Craft Palooza” on Monday, October 24, from 5:30 to 6:30 pm, in the Meeting Room of the library. Children are invited to come in costume for this fun family craft event.
