New Year, New Energy: Free Strength & Mobility Fitness Classes Return to San Antonio’s Tobin Center in 2026
As San Antonio area residents step into the promise of a new year, the Tobin Center’s Wellness at the Tobin series is once again offering a thoughtful and energizing way to reset, recharge, and reconnect with others. The popular Strength & Mobility Fitness classes, hosted by EnergyX Fitness and sponsored by H-E-B and University Health, return on the first Saturday of every month in 2026 — and they’re completely free to the public.
Held at the scenic Will Naylor River Walk Plaza, these 60-minute outdoor workouts are designed for all ages and fitness levels. The next class kicks off Saturday, January 3, 2026 at 10:00 a.m., with recurring sessions every month through December 5.
Functional Fitness with a Focus on Community
Led by EnergyX Fitness, the Strength & Mobility Fitness class is more than just a workout. It’s an inclusive, high-energy experience that combines strength bands, kettlebells, bodyweight training, and cardio into a dynamic circuit aimed at building strength, mobility, and confidence.
Participants are encouraged to bring a mat or towel, a water bottle, and supportive athletic shoes. A limited supply of kettlebells and strength bands are provided, but attendees are welcome to bring their own for a seamless experience.
The series is part of the Tobin Center’s broader commitment to community wellness. With programming that includes Reset & Recovery Yoga, Rhythm & Moves Dance Cardio, and Mindful Flow Yoga, Wellness at the Tobin reflects a holistic vision for physical and mental well-being.

Why Movement Matters: The Proven Power of Fitness
New Year’s Day often marks a time for resolutions, and making space for movement is a powerful choice. According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, consistent physical activity improves heart health, strengthens bones and muscles, boosts mental health, and reduces the risk of chronic disease. Meanwhile, research from the American Osteopathic Association shows that practices like yoga and mobility training enhance flexibility, reduce stress, and support long-term joint and muscle health.
These benefits aren’t just for seasoned athletes. The Strength & Mobility class is intentionally designed with modifications so everyone — whether a beginner or a seasoned fitness enthusiast — can feel empowered and included.
