New Sky Trail Adventure Course Opens at Twin Lakes Family YMCA in Cedar Park, Bringing Family-Friendly Outdoor Fun to Williamson County

June 12 2026

Families looking for a new outdoor adventure in Cedar Park now have a reason to look up.

Williamson County and the Twin Lakes Family YMCA officially celebrated the opening of the Orr Family Sky Trail on June 12 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, marking the completion of a new aerial adventure attraction designed to bring families, friends, and community members together through active recreation.

Located at Twin Lakes Family YMCA, 204 E. Little Elm Trail in Cedar Park, the new Sky Trail Adventure Course combines climbing, balance challenges, elevated platforms, and aerial obstacles into an experience that organizers hope will become a destination for family outings, birthday celebrations, team-building activities, and confidence-building experiences.

The project represents a partnership between community supporters and public investment. Funding for the attraction came through donors and sponsors of the Twin Lakes Family YMCA as well as the voter-approved 2023 Williamson County Park Bonds, highlighting a shared commitment to expanding recreational opportunities for local residents.

A New Adventure Destination for Cedar Park Families

For many families, finding activities that appeal to children, teens, and adults at the same time can be a challenge. The new Sky Trail was designed with exactly that goal in mind.

The ropes and climbing adventure course features elevated platforms connected by bridges, balance elements, and obstacle challenges that encourage participants to test their coordination, courage, and problem-solving skills while enjoying views from above.

Participants wear full-body harnesses and remain connected to a continuous belay safety system throughout the experience, providing a secure environment for climbers of varying experience levels.

Unlike many adventure attractions that require memberships or specialized training, the Sky Trail is open to the public, and no YMCA membership is required to participate.

Whether visitors are planning a weekend family outing, looking for a unique activity with friends, or searching for a new challenge close to home, the attraction offers another recreational option in one of Central Texas' fastest-growing communities.

Designed for All Ages

The attraction includes experiences for both older participants and younger adventurers.

Children who are at least 48 inches tall may navigate the main Sky Trail independently. Children between 42 and 48 inches tall may participate when accompanied by an adult. The course accommodates participants up to 80 inches tall and up to 300 pounds.

For younger children, the YMCA has also introduced Sky Tykes, a scaled-down version of the adventure course specifically designed for participants under 48 inches tall.

According to Twin Lakes Family YMCA, the course is suitable for kids, teens, and adults, creating opportunities for families to enjoy the experience together.

No Experience Required

One of the most approachable aspects of the new attraction is that prior climbing or ropes-course experience is not necessary.

Before entering the course, participants receive assistance with harness fitting, a review of course rules, and a safety briefing from trained operators. Sessions generally last between 45 and 60 minutes, giving guests ample time to explore the course and complete challenges at their own pace.

The combination of professional oversight and built-in safety systems helps make the experience accessible to first-time climbers while still providing an engaging challenge.

Grand Opening Special Available Through June

To celebrate the opening, Twin Lakes Family YMCA is offering a limited-time grand opening promotion.

Guests can use the code GRANDOPENING through June 30 to receive 50% off ticket purchases.

Regular ticket pricing includes:

  • Sky Trail: $28.99 before discount
  • Sky Tykes: $9.99 before discount

For frequent visitors, Sky Trail memberships are also available, with plans starting at $20 per month for YMCA members.

Sky Trail Hours of Operation

The new attraction operates on the following schedule:

  • Monday: Closed
  • Tuesay–Friday: 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Saturday: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Sunday: Noon to 6 p.m.

What This Means for Williamson County

As Cedar Park and Williamson County continue to grow, community leaders and residents alike have emphasized the importance of maintaining quality recreational amenities that support healthy lifestyles and family engagement.

The opening of the Orr Family Sky Trail adds another destination that encourages outdoor activity, personal achievement, and shared experiences. It also reflects a broader effort to invest in parks, recreation, and community gathering spaces that serve residents of all ages.

For local families seeking a new adventure close to home, the opportunity is now just a few feet off the ground.
