New Retail Renovations and Store Openings Signal Continued Growth at Tanger Outlets San Marcos and San Marcos Premium Outlets

December 26 2025

A wave of retail investment is heading to Tanger Outlets San Marcos and San Marcos Premium Outlets, with several well-known brands planning renovations, remodels, and new storefronts that reflect continued confidence in San Marcos as a regional shopping destination along the Interstate 35 corridor.

From value-focused beauty and accessories to footwear, apparel, and kitchenware, the projects—spanning late 2025 through spring 2026—represent more than cosmetic upgrades. They signal a broader effort to modernize shopping experiences for residents, students, and visitors who regularly travel between Austin and San Antonio.

MISS A Bringing Budget-Friendly Beauty to Tanger Outlets San Marcos

Online favorite MISS A, known for affordable cosmetics, beauty tools, and accessories, is preparing to open a new retail location at Tanger Outlets San Marcos, located at 4015 Interstate 35 South, Suite 338E.

The project involves a $200,000 interior renovation of a previously occupied retail space totaling 2,908 square feet. Construction is scheduled to begin January 1, 2026, with completion anticipated by March 31, 2026. Plans call for demolition of interior partitions and ceiling finishes, followed by updated interior buildouts designed to support MISS A’s high-volume, value-driven retail model.

Le Creuset Upgrading Its Showroom Experience

Also at Tanger Outlets San Marcos, premium cookware brand Le Creuset is investing $75,000 into a showroom remodel at Suite 330A, located along the South I-35 frontage road.

Scheduled from March 1 through April 30, 2026, the 1,988-square-foot project will refresh finishes, lighting, and display fixtures, enhancing the in-store experience for shoppers seeking cookware, bakeware, and gift items.

Journeys Planning Interior Renovation at Tanger Outlets

Footwear retailer Journeys is slated to renovate its existing store at 4015 I-35 South, Suite 1005, with work expected to take place between January 12 and February 20, 2026.

The $183,000 renovation will update the 3,000-square-foot shoe store, focusing on interior improvements that align with the brand’s evolving retail design standards.

Johnston & Murphy Investing in San Marcos Premium Outlets

At San Marcos Premium Outlets, classic footwear and apparel brand Johnston & Murphy is planning a $316,000 renovation of its existing store at 3939 I-35, Suite 192.

Construction is scheduled to run concurrently with the Journeys remodel—from January 12 through February 20, 2026—and will cover 3,383 square feet, modernizing the space while maintaining the brand’s traditional aesthetic.

The Children’s Place Now Open

While several projects are still on the horizon, The Children’s Place is already welcoming shoppers at San Marcos Premium Outlets following a significant interior renovation of its new space.

Located at 4015 S. I-35, Space 510, the store completed a $325,000 interior alteration spanning 6,282 square feet, with construction running from September 15 through December 22, 2025. The newly refreshed space offers families expanded access to children’s apparel in a more updated retail environment.

What It Means for San Marcos and Hays County

Together, these projects represent nearly $1.1 million in combined retail investment, reinforcing the role of San Marcos outlet centers as major economic and employment drivers for Hays County. For local residents, Texas State University students, and travelers along I-35, the updates translate into refreshed storefronts, expanded brand offerings, and a shopping experience that continues to evolve with consumer expectations.

As redevelopment and reinvestment continue, shoppers can expect more announcements in the months ahead.
