New Little Free Library Installed at Cypress Meadow Big Park
Cypress Meadow has a new chapter to celebrate—literally. A Little Free Library has been installed near the front entrance of the Poolhouse at the Big Park (19230 Cypress Flower Dr, Katy, TX 77449), offering residents of all ages a fun and easy way to share books and connect through literacy.
The idea behind the book-sharing box is simple but powerful: “Take a book, leave a book.” Residents are encouraged to borrow a book they’d like to read and leave one in its place when they’re ready. From children’s stories to fiction novels, cookbooks to biographies, there’s something for everyone.
Little Free Libraries are part of a global grassroots movement that began in 2009, when Wisconsin native Todd Bol built the first one as a tribute to his mother, a teacher who loved reading. Since then, thousands have been set up across neighborhoods around the world, with each one helping to build community through the shared joy of books.

These mini libraries are more than just cute boxes—they’re powerful tools for promoting literacy and neighborhood connection. According to LittleFreeLibrary.org, communities that adopt these “take a book, share a book” spots often see increased reading habits and more face-to-face neighbor interactions.
The Cypress Meadow HOA invites everyone to help keep the library stocked and thriving. Whether you’re passing along a beloved novel or picking out a bedtime story for your child, the new Little Free Library is a small addition with big impact—bringing neighbors together one book at a time.
