New Cy-Champ Park C Coming to Champions Area: A $3.5M Community Investment in Recreation and Connection
Residents in the Champions area will soon have a new place to stretch their legs, gather with family, and connect with neighbors. Cy-Champ PUD Park C, a long-anticipated recreational development, is set to break ground in October 2025 at the intersection of Cutten Road and Champions Centre Drive. The $3.5 million project will add a 40,000-square-foot park to the Champions community.
According to Harold Greer of Cy-Champ PUD, work will begin around October 1st with site clearing and storm drainage before progressing to the construction of walking trails, stretching stations, and open green space.
“First will be the clearing of the trees and underbrush where the project will be located. Once project is cleared and underground is complete, final install of the drainage along with exercise equipment will begin. At that point, final grading install of the shade structure irrigation and landscaping with be installed,” Greer said.
Park C is being designed as a flexible, family-oriented park to round out the existing park system maintained by Cy-Champ PUD, which serves the neighborhoods of Barrington Woods, Champions Park, Champions Park North, and Champions Creek. A shade structure with a fan will be installed near the parking area, and the space will include features for both fitness and play. Unlike Park A, which caters to younger children with its playground equipment, and Park B, a serene green space better suited for quiet relaxation, Park C will be centered around activity.

“The design of Park C will be more of a family gathering park,” said Greer. “Park A is more of a children type park with the playground equipment, Park B is more of a serene park and C will be more for the daily walkers with the track and stretching equipment. Also a place for the family to play frisbee, catch or more active activities due to the large open infield.”
Safety and accessibility are key components of the project. Designed by landscape architecture firm Clark Condon, Park C will meet all ADA standards. Parking lots will be fully lit, and Harris County Constables will patrol the area regularly, with their substation located just a block away. Importantly, Greer noted that the tree buffer between the park and adjacent homes will be preserved to maintain privacy and natural beauty: “We always try to leave as much natural vegetation and trees as possible.”
The new development is expected to complement existing recreational amenities in the area, including Cy-Champ Park, located just up the road. That park features a 1.5-mile wooded nature trail with distance markers and shaded loops—popular with walkers, runners, and families. A children’s playground greets visitors at the Hargrave Road entrance, and while there are water fountains, there are no restrooms.
Cy-Champ Park also serves as a place of remembrance. Along the trail lies the Fallen Warrior Memorial, a deeply moving tribute honoring Texas servicemembers who made the ultimate sacrifice. Four granite walls bear the names of these heroes. Nearby, the Service Dog Memorial honors the loyalty and service of military and search-and-rescue canines, including two life-sized bronze statues of Bretagne—the last known 9/11 search dog—and Eli, a military working dog. The statues were dedicated in May 2019.

For residents, Park C is more than just a new green space—it’s another chapter in a story of thoughtful community investment. “This park along with A and B should give residents places to visit and something available for all needs and uses,” Greer shared. “At some point, there will be some options for some community events.”
Cy-Champ PUD is also reworking its broader landscaping scope now that multiple parks are coming online. Officials have emphasized their commitment to ongoing maintenance and long-term care to ensure all facilities remain welcoming and safe.
The park is projected to be completed by August 2027. Once open, it will operate from daylight to dusk, seven days a week.
