Mustang Round Up Returns to Taylor High School: Celebrate and Support Student Athletes in Katy

March 26 2025

The Taylor High School Athletic Booster Club is inviting the entire community to come out and show their Mustang pride at this year’s Mustang Round Up, set for Thursday, March 27 at 6 p.m. in the Competition Gym at James E. Taylor High School, located at 20700 Kingsland Blvd, Katy, TX 77450.

The event promises an evening of Mustang spirit, featuring spirit wear for sale, opportunities to join the Booster Club, and plenty of ways for families and supporters to volunteer and get involved in the future of Taylor athletics.

“Mustang Round Up is the perfect opportunity for new and returning families to learn more about how they can support our incredible student athletes,” said a Keith Spiers, VP of Memberships for the Taylor High School Athletic Booster Club (THSABC). “Whether it’s purchasing spirit gear or signing up to volunteer, it’s all about building community and Mustang pride.”

Supporting Over 900 Student Athletes at Taylor High School

As one of the most competitive athletic programs in Katy ISD, Taylor High School offers a wide range of UIL-sanctioned sports, including:

  • Football
  • Volleyball
  • Basketball (Boys & Girls)
  • Baseball & Softball
  • Soccer (Boys & Girls)
  • Track & Field
  • Cross Country
  • Golf
  • Tennis
  • Swimming & Diving
  • Wrestling
  • Cheerleading

Each sport benefits from the Taylor High School Athletic Booster Club, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to raising additional funds not covered by school district allocations. While Katy ISD provides essential athletic funding, the THSABC steps in to support everything from uniforms and equipment to training supplies and athlete recognition.

Scholarships and Student Support

One of the Booster Club’s most impactful contributions each year is its college scholarship program. Through generous member donations and fundraising efforts, the THSABC awards up to 15 scholarships annually to graduating Taylor High School athletes. Recipients are selected by a committee of school counselors, coaches, and a Booster Club representative.

These scholarships reflect the club’s mission to not only support athletic programs but also help student-athletes continue their education and leadership development after graduation.

The THSABC also holds monthly meetings on the first Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the 9th Grade Commons. These gatherings are open to the public and offer a chance to stay informed, get involved, and help shape the future of Taylor athletics.

Why It Matters

Events like Mustang Round Up are part of what makes Taylor High School athletics so successful—not just on the scoreboard, but in building character, leadership, and lifelong skills in its student-athletes. The support of families, alumni, and local businesses is key to keeping these programs strong and ensuring that every student has what they need to succeed.

Whether you're new to the area, a proud Mustang parent, or simply a sports fan looking to give back, the Taylor High School Athletic Booster Club welcomes your support.
