METRO Opens New Missouri City Park & Ride to Enhance Commuter Connectivity in Fort Bend County

February 04 2025

The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO) has officially opened the new Missouri City Park & Ride, a state-of-the-art transit facility designed to improve mobility for Missouri City and Fort Bend County residents. This addition to METRO’s transit network aims to enhance regional connectivity, offering a reliable commuting option for those traveling to and from Houston’s urban centers.

Strategically located at the intersection of Fort Bend Parkway and Knight Road, the new Park & Ride serves as a critical transit hub, providing commuters with a direct link to the Texas Medical Center. Riders also have convenient access to METRORail and other local bus routes, facilitating seamless travel across the region. Additionally, the facility serves as a designated pick-up and drop-off point for METRO’s 363 Missouri City curb2curb service, ensuring easy first-mile and last-mile connectivity.

“As this community continues to grow, access to reliable transit will be increasingly more important,” said METRO Board Chair Elizabeth Gonzalez Brock. “The new Missouri City Park & Ride expands mobility options, making it easier for commuters to connect to key destinations within METRO’s service area.”

The Missouri City Park & Ride features 1,750 covered parking spaces and a covered waiting area, prioritizing commuter comfort and convenience. The facility is a major component of Phase III of the Fort Bend Town Center development—a mixed-use lifestyle center that includes residential housing, retail stores, and entertainment venues. By integrating transit accessibility into this expanding urban development, METRO is reinforcing its commitment to fostering smart growth and sustainable mobility solutions in the region.

As part of this transition, METRO has discontinued the 271 Missouri City - SH6 Park & Ride route. In its place, the newly introduced 270 Missouri City Park & Ride route will operate exclusively at the new facility, which is located at 20525 Fort Bend Parkway Toll Road, Fresno, Texas 77545.

METRO, the largest public transit provider in the Houston region, continues to advance its mission of delivering safe, clean, and accessible transportation services. Its extensive network includes local bus routes, METRORail services, Park & Ride commuter buses, METROLift paratransit services, HOV/HOT Express Lanes, curb2curb microtransit, and the METRO Star Vanpool program. The agency remains committed to regional mobility through innovative transit solutions and infrastructure improvements that cater to the growing population and workforce needs of the Greater Houston area.

The opening of the Missouri City Park & Ride marks another milestone in METRO’s ongoing efforts to expand transportation access, reduce traffic congestion, and improve the daily commute for thousands of residents in Fort Bend County and beyond.
