Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony in Harris County Precinct 3 to Honor Fallen Service Members
For many families across Towne Lake and throughout Harris County Precinct 3, Memorial Day weekend marks the unofficial start of summer. But before the backyard gatherings and long weekend plans begin, local leaders are encouraging residents to pause and remember the true meaning behind the holiday.
Harris County Precinct 3 Commissioner Tom S. Ramsey, P.E., is inviting the community to attend a Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony on Monday, May 25, at the Veterans Memorial in Collins Park in Spring. The early morning ceremony will honor the men and women of the United States Armed Forces who lost their lives while serving the country.
Set against the backdrop of the Veterans Memorial at Collins Park, the event offers residents an opportunity to come together in quiet reflection and shared gratitude alongside neighbors, veterans, first responders, and community leaders.

Why Memorial Day Matters
Originally known as Decoration Day following the Civil War, Memorial Day has long served as a national day of remembrance for military personnel who died in service to the United States. Across Texas and the nation, communities gather each year to honor those sacrifices through ceremonies, memorial visits, flag displays, and moments of silence.
For many residents in growing communities throughout Harris County Precinct 3, events like this also serve as a reminder of the shared values that connect neighborhoods together — service, sacrifice, and community.
As flags are lowered and ceremonies take place across the Houston area, local officials hope residents will take a few moments to reflect not only on the freedoms Americans enjoy today, but also on the cost paid by generations of service members to protect them.
A Community Invitation for Residents in Towne Lake
The Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony provides a meaningful opportunity for families, veterans, and residents of all ages to gather together before the holiday’s activities begin. Whether attending to honor a loved one, teach younger generations about the significance of Memorial Day, or simply show support for the military community, organizers say all are welcome.
Residents planning to attend are encouraged to arrive early.
