Veterans War Memorial in Collins Park Now Open
Commissioner Tom S. Ramsey’s Office proudly unveils the Veterans War Memorial at Collins Park, serving as a symbol of America’s honor of members with the Armed Forces who served and sacrificed their lives during times of war.

(Photo: Daniel Arizpe / My Neighborhood News)Located at 6727 Cypresswood Drive in Spring, the memorial features six monuments, a stone wall entryway, the American flag, Texas flag, and the POW/MIA flag that serves as a reminder of every U.S. servicemember whose fate was never accounted for during war times. It was constructed using black granite material for the monuments, each standing 8 feet tall and honors the U.S. Army, Marine Corp, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, and Coast Guard. All of the monuments and flags feature accent lighting for illumination at night.
“Men and women throughout our nation’s history have served our country to protect the freedoms we all enjoy to this day,” said Commissioner Ramsey. “It is our civic duty to ensure they are honored and protected here at home. We welcome everyone to visit the Veterans War Memorial, and to take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices made by our military veterans.”

Bush Community Center, the Barbara Bush Library and the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts. The project began during the third quarter of 2023 and was designed by Clark Condon and constructed by LMC Corporation, with completion aimed for Veterans Day.
According to Eric Heppen, senior project manager for Commissioner Ramsey, the orientation and aesthetic of the memorial was thoughtfully planned so that it blends in with the setting of Collins Park and feels as though it has been a long-standing fixture in the park. After evaluating all of the parks within Precinct 3, Collins Park was selected to be the home of the Veterans War Memorial because of its ample foot traffic and ideal location at the heart of Precinct 3.
