Medina Valley ISD Senior Honored Through Valero Alamo Bowl’s Largest Scholarship Year
A Medina Valley Independent School District senior is among more than 100 students recognized this year through the Valero Alamo Bowl’s long-standing commitment to supporting local student-athletes.
Madelynn Salazar of Medina Valley High School has been selected as a recipient of the 2025 Valero Alamo Bowl Student-Athlete Scholarship, earning $7,500 as part of the Bowl’s largest high school scholarship distribution to date. This year’s awards brought total high school scholarship funding to $765,000, reinforcing the Valero Alamo Bowl’s position as the top local scholarship provider among all college bowl games.
Salazar serves as a varsity volleyball co-captain and is also a varsity golf athlete. Her leadership extends beyond athletics through her involvement in the National Honor Society, four years of student council service, recognition for academic excellence, and her role as a Fellowship of Christian Athletes huddle leader.

The Valero Alamo Bowl Scholarship Program ensures that at least one qualified student is selected from every participating San Antonio-area public and private high school. Since the program’s launch in 2000, more than 2,100 students have collectively received over $13.25 million in scholarship funding.
Salazar was honored during the H-E-B Scholarship Awards Luncheon on December 17 and will be recognized on the field during the Valero Alamo Bowl on December 30, celebrating her accomplishments in front of a regional audience.
