Medina County Schedules Public Hearings on Speed Limits and Truck Traffic for Feb. 23 Commissioners Court Meeting

February 20 2026

HONDO, TX — Medina County residents who drive county roads daily—or live along them—may want to take note of two public hearing notices now posted by Medina County. The notices outline proposed actions related to speed limits on certain county roads in Precinct 1 and a separate hearing regarding “no through truck traffic” restrictions, both associated with a regular meeting of the Medina County Commissioners Court.

Speed Limits Proposed for Precinct 1 County Roads

One notice states the Commissioners Court will hold a public hearing to receive comment and vote on establishing 30 mph speed limits on County Road 281, 282 and 283 (within the Rio Medina Estates Subdivision) and County Road 354 in Precinct 1.

The notice lists the hearing as part of the Monday, Feb. 23, 2026, 9:00 a.m. Commissioners Court meeting at the Medina County Courthouse Annex in Hondo.

“No Through Truck Traffic” Notice on County Road 354

A second notice describes a public hearing regarding no through truck traffic on county roads, referencing potential restrictions on County Road 354 in Precinct #1.

The posted notice lists the hearing as occurring during the regular Commissioners Court meeting on Monday, Feb. 23, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. (as written on the county’s notice).

Why These Hearings Matter Locally

Traffic rules—like speed limits and truck restrictions—can shape everyday life for nearby residents, from roadway noise and safety concerns to commute patterns and heavy vehicle routing.

Public hearings are one of the few moments where residents can weigh in directly before a vote is taken.

Where the Meeting Is Listed

Both notices tie to the Medina County Courthouse Annex, 1300 Avenue M, Room 165, Hondo, TX, as posted by the county.

Stay tuned to My Neighborhood News for updates as the meeting date approaches and after outcomes are posted.
